Glad I found this thread, I'm picking up my 2012 SVTPP this weekend, and I almost ordered a set of the Corsa, Borla or Bassani axel backs. Now I think I will wait because I haven't even heard the stock exhaust yet. Will be driving it back from the dealer 220 miles, so that will prob give me a good sense on weather or not I wan't to change them.

I have heard some stock GT500 vids on youtube, and felt that I wanted something a bit deeper sounding, but not something overly aggressive since this will be my daily driver.

Trying to find a comparison of the FRP Sport M5230-MGTLA $600 vs.
the Stock GT500 muffler. Does Borla make the FRP Sport muffler?

Yes, Borla does make the FRPP Sport.

Hey M4a! I'm finally getting my Mustang, sold the 370z a few weeks ago, picking up a 2012 Black/Black GT500 SVTPP on Saturday I'm like a little kid waiting for xmas!!

Just trying to decide on an exhaust, wan't something just a notch up from stock, but after listening to the stock set-up, I may decide it will do.

That's awesome, dude! There's a guy in our 370Z group that has a 2011 GT500 and stops by from time to time. The car sounds fantastic stock. If my GT had that exhaust from the factory I probably would have left it alone, honestly. It's loud enough but isn't obnoxious at all.

Tell me about it. There are more than a handful of 370Z turned 5.0 or GT500 owners!

I drove a 2011 GT500 yesterday and the GT500 exhaust is louder on the 5.0 than it is on the Shelby. The sales person said the supercharger has something to do with that. But I can tell you that mine is much much louder and throatier than the GT500 I drove. It had 1400 miles on it so it wasnt a break in issue.

I believe the GT500s come with an X-pipe, which would be a little quieter than an H.

Speaking of that. How do you think the GT500 exhaust will sound with a magnaflow xpipe? (not the O/R)

Im done with my magnaflow catback. Im gonna sell it and want a cheap option to make the car a little louder.

So done with drone and fitment issues that magnaflow refuses to fix. If I was racing the car this exhaust would be great but it's just not what I wanted for my DD

Yeah, definitely do not want drone, I've had that with other cars in the past, over that as well.

You are running the competition series right?
It's hard to tell by videos on you tube, but the street series sounds pretty good, wonder if this too has the drone. ???

On a side note, I picked up my car Friday

The stock exhaust is probably the best sounding of any factory car I've every purchased. It's almost just right. About the only thing I'd like more is slightly deeper tone at idle and lower rpm's, but at WOT, it's perfect.
Loud enough to satisfy the driver, but not so loud to attract unwanted attention.

From what I've read, the street series has very minimal drone

So I had GT500 axle backs on order and I canceled based on the posts that said the sound change wasn't that great. I just put in a CAI and I do like the sound increase from that. I think I'll see how I feel after a while before I play with the exhaust.
