2011 GT500 Axleback exhaust...

Does anybody know if any of the "SVT" versions of the axleback they sell at
FRPP is the actual one used on the 2011 GT500?

Thanks

Check out the Borla exhaust thread in this section. The link is posted on page 3. Thinking of getting when I order my car.

Great, I'll have a look at the FRPP site again, but if my memory is intact I think they had at least 2 different axleback exhausts listed as the "SVT" version.
Wonder which the 2011 GT500 actually as on it from the factory?

I like the Borla's a lot and was fully planning on going that route.
However at nearly $700 for an axleback and then installation charges, it's a bit steep.

Installation charges? Really? Do it yourself, don't pay someone, especially if it's just a set of axlebacks. The kit you found is the OEM 2011 GT500 mufflers, the same set I heard.

Cool.
The only reason I stated installation charges is because i'm having my FRPP springs and panhard bar put on in the next 2-3 weeks (they come in either late this week or early next, but then I gotta clear my schedule to get them put on too) and figured if the car is up on the lift and it only take like 30 minutes might as well have them slap on the axlebacks for me too.

I so wanted the Borla Tourings, but at twice the cost for axlebacks, doubtful if they are twice as nice sounding as the GT500's.
I also considered catbacks but pretty much every catback has some drone and I don't want to deal with that anymore.
I know Borla claims no drone in their catback, and that may be true, but not going to spend $1400 to find out.

Makes sense. I'm in a similar boat with you as well. I like the Touring sound of the Borla's, but I don't like the price. I'm fine with getting an FRPP part and using it, instead of paying an outrageous premium price for something. Not to mention I don't care for the Borlas in how they stick out past the bumper.

So the factory 2011 GT500's axle backs are Borla mufflers?

Not sure who supplies the OEM mufflers for the GT500.

I've been trying to find sound clips of the GT500s on the 2011 GTs. Just noticed that the FRPP site started putting up sound samples for their muffler kits:

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...KeyField=12437

The sound quality isn't all that great, but they're enough to give you a decent taste for your ears. After hearing these, it's going to be hard for me to not order up a set and skip shopping for Borlas or Bassanis altogether!

Those sound great................especially at that price.

Can anyone verify that they sound that good on a 5.0 ?

Ordered my GT500 mufflers the other day.
Going to get them put on when my FRPP springs get put on too.
The Borlas were too expensive and the other exhausts I didn't like the sound of well enough.

I am putting a set on my 2010 GT soon. I already put a Magnaflow X pipe and high flow cats on now the car is actually quieter than it was before with the H pipe. I don't want it loud but a little more wouldn't hurt plus the tips are nicer than stock. Greenleaf has take offs for a good price.

Isn't there a Ford dealership sponsor here that sells at a small markup?

I've said this in several places on here. I've heard them on a 2011 5.0 and they sound wonderful. Nice burble at idle, no popping or backfiring during revs. Fit like factory, look good too.

Ford Racing's website has them already.

If not Borla, I bet Walker/Dynomax - Might sound strange, but they do alot of OE exhaust stuff.
