I was wondering if anyone has any info on the brembo package.

From my reading it has 4 pot rear brakes as well? Any info on these? will they bolt up to a 05-09 rear? if so is the master cylinder different?

I don't think the rear is even 2 piston, think it's just a single piston, same rear calipers and rotors as standard GT.

Even a 2011 GT500 SVT PP has the same calipers and rotors as a regular 2011 GT on the rear. Or a 2010 GT for that matter.

The GT500's have upgraded pads though on the rears, not sure about the Brembo 5.0s.

I guess it was a misprint. I saw autoblog mentioned 4 piston rear calipers for brembo package 2011 gt's.

Reason I ask is because I did the brembo upgrade to my 07gt. Love the brakes, but the rears went dead on me before. I dislike the rear calipers & pads for a few reasons. None have anything to do with braking performance but rather longevity & maintenance.

I don't like the fact the rears are sliding calipers, they can get stuck or wear pads unevenly.
I hate the fact that the rear also have no squeal tabs on the pads therefore they need constant atention, whitch would not be so bad but rear brakes are a pain to check, especialy since the pad that wears first is hidden by the dust sheild.

Well the rears must work pretty good. The FR500 uses them.

I never said they did not perform well. I said they need to be better designed. Myabe next time you have to use the stupid twist tool to put the piston back in the caliper and have to have your rear rotors turned you might rememeber my complaints.

You don't have to turn rotors on modern disc brakes unless you either abuse them or the pads wear down to metal and you end up screwing your rotors up. In both cases I would rather replace the rotors instead of turning them.

I have seen the Brembo kits for the 05-09's with the upgraded GT500 rear brake pads. Not sure if they are that much better but I am sure they are decent Hawk pads or similar. Probably what I am going with when I get an earlier S197.

It might of been a misprint too, but I read in a magazine the Brembo BP got 2 piston rears.

Honestly I'm quite surprised nobody with a 2011 GT actually knows this for sure yet.

According to the dealer guide it's 4 in front, 2 in the rear just like the Shelby.

The rears are the standard single piston rears...... I'm pretty familiar with them from my '07 GT and the '07 Shelby GT.... and my '11 Brembo car has the same rears.

You don't have to take anything apart to tell that they DON'T have 4 piston calipers on the rear.

All someone needs to do take a pic through the wheel with the caliper set between the wheel spokes.

Thew article is wrong. Go to Fords website, build a Stang, and then when you get to the options the Brembo package clearly states 2 piston rear calipers on 11.8" (I think) vented rotors. Plain as day.

I second this. Click the details button for the package and it states 2 pistons in the rear. Now, if Ford made a boo-boo and put inaccurate info on that page, then that is a different story

The rear brakes are the same whether brembo or standard, GT or GT500.

They are not dual piston calipers, they are single piston calipers. Part of this is dictated by the parking brake mechanism, it is a ratcheting system that advances the pad when applied by twisting the adjusting mechanism inside. There is no two piston calipers that work this way, only single piston.

Don't believe me? Pull the rear wheel on your brembo car or GT500 and look.

Rear caliper picture, actually looks basically the same as the caliper on my '04.
