2011 5.0 off road x-pipe or off road h-pipe from lethal performance??

I have a 2011 5.0 automatic with flomaster American thunder classic and no resonators. What would make my exhaust sound better and louder. Off road "x" or "h"? Which would u choose and why. Thanks for the help and helping me make up my mind.

Like to see answer from this. Did taking the resonators change it much? Thanks!

"Better" is subjective. Removing your cats will make your car louder. I suggest you youtube some videos to get an idea of what some might sound like.

I will have my cats gutted. My guy says if Ford sees any work done, they could void it? As soon as I got home with it, I ordered FM 40 Series axle-backs for it. That made it sound great! Just looking for great-er. I changed the exhaust on my '95 7 times!!

Just can always get better!!

Sorry to ***** thread!! What will sound better? & what will make more power?

When I had the AT's the drone was horrible, couldn't imagine it with no resonators and no cats. But I think the X may make a few more hp and the H will be a tad bit deeper.

Reviving this thread. I have Bassani Axelbacks.

Any opinions on offroad X vs. offroad H? I've always thought H was deeper sounding (in my '05), but then I heard X was on these cars?

I see some complaining of loss of low end power with o/r H.

I preferred the o/r h-pipe on the older mustangs (99-04), but these 5.0 exhausts are much rougher sounding with an h-pipe when making changes. I got the borla s-type and went back and forth with my x-pipe and h-pipe...and to me the x-pipe sounds much better. Smoother, less popping. I couldn't imagine making my exhaust any louder by removing the cats, but it's my daily driver. I already have to be careful on how hard I get on it in public.

Power wise, I don't think you are going to "feel" the difference between the two. I actually felt like the car ran rougher and had less umph with the h-pipe vs my borla x-pipe. I am comparing my stock h-pipe to this though.

Good luck with your decision.

It voids the entire powertrain. Is there any problems that might occur with an o/r x pipe? And how bad is the smell with one?

No, it doesn't. THings like that are still up to dealer discretion. Please re-read the re-issued TSB.

The smell with any off road pipe will be pretty bad.If you are sitting still with windows down you will get sick of the smell pretty quick.I would just keep the stock H pipe if you are going with a H

It's seperate from the cats and I don't see you making much more power with a aftermarket H unless it eliminates the cats.

these cars get real loud with offroad X or H with any straight through muffler.
IMO the best sound is with longtubes and o/r X pipe and a chambered muffler.

It will sound nice and deep and even with resonators in place the sound is perfect.
I have this set up with Gibson stainless axlebacks and there is no drone at all.
