Aftermarket clutch kit
Hello, I have a 2010 4.6 gt, wanting to purchase a stage 3 clutch kit for it. I'm definitely not a mechanic, do I have to stick with a specific spline or can I purchase a 26 spline? Thanks 😬

A given clutch is made for a given number of splines in the input shaft of the transmission, so you've got to stick with the same number of splines, unless you're putting in a new transmission with a different number of splines. IIRC, the stock TR3650 is 10 spline, whereas the TR6060 in the GT500 or the T56 Magnum XL is 26 spline. I think there are places that can upgrade the TR3650 to 26 but I think that's $$$.
LMR has a good write up on splines

Welcome to the forums!
Good advice by Cavero.
But... First you say you're not a mechanic, but then you go straight to stage 3 clutches. Which seems a bit odd on the face of it, to me... I'd kind of like to know the reasoning behind the stage 3. Because if the car's otherwise stock, or you're not going track/drag racing more exclusively than not, then it's a complete waste, and OEM or stage 2 is the ones to go after, and even the stage 2 is asking more money for what you may not use.
You do you, of course. I'm not trying to convince you to not do the stage 3, just... makin' sure. I mean, one doesn't have to spend money if one doesn't need to, right? Right! Then again, for all I know, you're a racing driver what has a guy/gal who builds your cars so you can just get in and go, and they say 'You need this' and it all makes sense. And in that case... right on, stage 3 it is, I'd wager.
Just curious!
