28lbs added several feet in the air has a significant impact on body roll. I was not referring to his lap times, but more of how the car will behave under stress. I test drove both, and you can feel the difference if you take hard corners. My comment was intended more as a 'feel' message, not so much lap times. Of course, it is a very cool option, and if I did not track my car I would have considered it. And, of course, if he likes it, he should get it - that goes without saying.

A lot of people were worried about it when it was announced as an option way back. But we had a Ford vehicle dynamics engineer on here from Team Mustang who pretty much put it to bed. My point is unless he is competitively tracking his car, in which case ANY weight savings is good, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for all the input folks. My spin on it is that, if I want to be 0.02 seconds quicker, then I should lose 28 pounds...and my doctor would probably say that would be a good idea!!

I was going through old threads and found this one again. I remember the period of time when we were both discussing what to order on our cars. Pretty ironic that you took pics of your car at the local PD and that was right after I got my little conviction, hence the Crown Vic joke - and here I am in the process of interviewing for police agencies. Dan, if I am employed by the end of next year, and you fall in love with the 2015, please keep me as first on your list of new buyers for your baby! You've ordered and modified it almost exactly as I would have, and I would love to own a Canadian car, as it would make it even more rare here. Not to mention, you keep it brand new with the low miles. Hang on to it for me!
