My new SGM '13 GT
This is just not true. Don't make blanket statements about things you don't know about, based on your one experience with a car that didn't have a good factory system. If you want a loud system, put together a solid front stage with component speakers (if you can, run them active, and if you can go 3-way) and amp them. Almost ALL factory systems are subpar. "Rear speakers" don't just "handle sound better."
Btw, I was giving you instructions on how to build a better, "loud" system that would give you a lot more satisfaction than any factory system.

As for the sound system, I now fully understand that the Shaker is designed for front seat sound. It's just different not having fill from the back. On certain settings or stations, the front components actually sound ok.
Love, love, love this car. So much fun to drive.
Thanks. I was playing around with my DSLR aperture settings and that starburst popped up. I have idea why or how. The pics came out good! And for a rule of thumb, fade all the way to the front, then start fading rear one click at a time until you just start to hear rear sound, then move back forward one click. That's how rear fill should sound, noticeable enough that it's barely there, but not enough that it overpowers the front stage.
You can prefer the wrong things all you want. I can't help you there. My point is, don't go spouting off your (wrong) opinion as fact. People who lurk and/or subscribe to threads will read your posts, and if they don't know any better, they might believe your incorrect information as truth.

1) We are talking about factory stereos so your opinion about how to build an aftermarket system is irrelevant and helps nobody.
2) You are claiming that you want the sound to come from the front, "like at the concert dAwG!" 2A) Any real audiophile will tell you you don't want to be able to hear where the sound comes from at all because in a real setup you would delay the sounds my X milliseconds from each speaker so they hit your ears at the same time based on your seating position from each individual speaker. 2B) You must go to some real crappy clubs if the sound comes from one place
3) If you think it's "right" to have the sound come out of the ****ty front tweeters, then more power to you. Get into ANY car with the sound coming out of the front with a heavy bias and loud volume, and it makes your ears bleed. Do nothing else but adjust the fader to the rear and the sound quality is infinitely better.
4) I also never "spouted off" my opinion as fact. The only ******* doing that in here is you, trying to strong-arm everyone into thinking having everything blare through the tweeters is the way to go, and you see to have difficulty comprehending that people may prefer something you don't.
Now kindly, shut up and **** off. I prefer sound from the rear, and so does the OP, and I simply told him about the fader setting, and then you come in acting like a complete douchebag. But let me guess, you installed crappy stereos at Best Buy for 6 years.

So maybe you decided to read up a little bit before coming back to this thread. You're right, you don't want to hear where the sound is coming from. Guess what, putting the speakers in front and time-aligning them to the driver's seat (as my car is, with a hybrid active/passive 3-way front stage) is much more efficient than throwing a bunch of speakers in the rear and trying to make them blend with your "crappy" front stage, hence - build a quality front stage. You said you liked your music loud. Like I mentioned before, loud doesn't mean it's good. And factory is neither, which is why I gave you and everyone else reading, starting points to building a good system. I did that especially considering the OP said he was planning on changing speakers. Loud doesn't equal good sounding, but that doesn't mean that a well built system can't be both (my Escape's system for instance).
Also, the advice I gave for setting the fade to make your rear speakers blend with the fronts, can be applied to any system factory or aftermarket, and goes to show that I am not against rear fill. Rear fill *can* add to a system, but not every system and it depends on how it's tuned. Simply telling someone to move the bias to the rear to "handle the sound better" is not sound (no pun intended) advice. I am a music lover and love SQ car audio setups. Prior to your last post, everything you were saying was just either a) plain wrong or b) misguided.
No, I've never worked at Best Buy, but when I was younger I've had them, Circuit City and Good Guys all screw up things on my, and my parents' cars. So I then went to a nice high end shop in the area, where I eventually ended up working at and learning a lot of professional installation/tuning techniques. Techniques used in SQ competition installs, that have won championships. I used to have wrong opinions too; then someone who knew what they were doing/talking about set me straight. Sound is very subjective, obviously, so if you're going to give your opinion, do everyone a favor and say "in my opinion" so they know they're comparing your opinion to IASCA standards. If you/they choose to do things the way you/they want, that's fine, just don't come on here talking like your opinion is God when the OP could benefit much more from advice on how to build a good sounding system.
Now in the interest of not getting the OP's introduction thread locked, or scaring him away from TMS, I agree to disagree, even if you now seem to have a better understanding of building a good system. Some people are happy with the factory system - that's fine, they probably have never heard a really good system before. Personally, I would never be satisfied by any factory system except for some of the super high end ones from luxury manufacturers, and even then a lot of them could be improved by simply adding a DSP to the mix.
"Wrong opinions" which is a complete contradiction in terms in itself followed immediately by discussion of how sound is subjective and people have different opinions, lol.
God, just stop. Please. Nobody cares that you are a stereo badass.

I wouldn't say that. A number of people have PM'd and emailed me asking for help on planning/setting up better systems for their cars. And if anyone needs help, give me a holler
