Quick question about my red candy

When I purchased my red candy metallic last night I noticed that Ford charges 395.00 for having red candy metallic. Why do they charge for this color? Is it a rare color?

Yeah Ford often charges extra for specialty paint jobs...the Lava Red paint job coming out is another one that costs extra. Enjoy your red candy!!

Red Candy is a tri-coat, 3 stage paint (as is Yellow Blaze). Typical metallics, etc are 2 stage (Base coat + Clear), 3 stage requires an extra step in the paint process. Pearl coats for example are 3 stages. There's an extra step where the pearl is laid down before the clear to give it extra depth. The extra materials and "labor" are what you're paying for.

Edit: it has nothing to do with being 'rare'.

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying that for me. Feels good now to know that I have a mustang with a special paint job.
