First detailing

Hi Team!

This is my 2012 Kona Blue V6 MT with a performance package. Way too much fun to drive!!
Got lots of very good advice from fellow posters in the Source as to how to detail.
Used Blackfire for all detailing except for Meguiar's sealant. Thanks to all for the advice:
wash, claybar, wash, polish, sealant, 2 coats of Midnight Sun Carnauba.

Used 303 Aeropace on the trim outside and 1Z on the inside.

So far I'm a happy camper!. p.s., added foglights from Starkey products. great advice from Jason there, they work great!

Thanks again to everyone on the site, it feels like family'!

Done! Was in the plan, but had to find a place that had Mother's back to black tire shine, which was recommended to me. I was going to wait a few days, but you motivated me to get it done. Sent my son to the shop in my F-150 to get it. Now he wants me to detail the truck, but I told him that's what teenagers are for. Start the learning process now.

Whats the difference between using a Meguires clay kit compared to Blackfire or something besides price? Meguires is $18 for 16oz lubricant and 160g bars and Blackfire is $38 for 12oz lubricant and 200g bars. Is the Blackfire one that much better? I'm planning on trying out the Blackfire gloss polish and wet diamond. Ive never done more than wash and wax before but as I'm putting my springs on next week, I want to get it really clean afterwards for some pictures with the exterior done (for the time being).

EDIT: I've also heard when doing the wash, clay, wash you should be using soap that isnt a "wash and wax". Is this true? is the blackfire wet diamond shampoo fine for this? or should I just stick with standard liquid automotive soap? Thanks

I just wash and use bfwd to protect the paint . I don't clay , seal etc. Too time consuming for me unless it was a show car. I drive mine alot and keep it clean. Once I quit being so **** about every speck of dirt, I personally enjoyed my car more. Everyone is different and there's no right or wrong; it's preference.

This is my first time. Want to get all the love bug residue off. Also my car got rear ended right once I bought the car and you can tell there is some overspray on the hood. Now that I'm moving out and will be without a garage I want to get it really clean and get the paint protected. Gonna miss that garage :/

Perfectly detailing a car in hot humid Florida is terrible. I'm drenched in sweat half way through which really curbs your motivation lol
