Own a Black 'Stang? Love it, Hate it, Both ??
The only thing holding me back now from buying a 2012 GT is deciding on the exterior color. The car looks awesome in black, but can I commit to the care ?? My other choice is Sterling Grey, which is "safer", I suppose. Some of where I drive includes gravel road and driveways. Could be snow in the car's future.
What do you guys think ?

I wanted Grabber Blue soooooooo bad - but fate (and getting my '12 at almost invoice) moved me to Kona Blue, and I don't regret the color, or the price. But if you're ordering what you want and price isn't the issue: Yes, black is a PITA to keep looking good - especially if your traversing through gravel often.
In fact, I saw two new black 'stangs today: one was shiny shiny, the other was slightly dusty, but you could easily see the finger marks where someone closed the trunk.

Best looking car in the world when clean. Ugliest in the world when dirty. All of my cars and trucks have been black and loved them all. I just decided for a change this time. Loving my Kona though.

a car guy washes his car once a week or something like that. Buying a car for how clean it looks dirty is just silly. Thats like the people that pick a color because of resale value. if everyone bought a car for a season we would all buy white ford fiestas and talk about mpg and drafting.

Black does look awesome
I agree tho it's a pain to keep clean .. Yes all cars get dirty but they don't show like black... I'm getting mine redone next yr to the sliver that came on the 03/04 cobras, I forget the name but it's beautiful!

I will *never* own a black exterior car. Ever again. Ever.
I am also leery of Lava Red, Midnight Blue, and other wayyyy dark colors, but NEVER black exterior again. Ever. EVAR!!!
/ to those who do, you guys/gals are masochists, but you have really pretty ones when they're clean, yessireebob.

It's not that bad. I've had the black stang 2 years (in a few days). It's seen 2 wnters, rain, I travel a highway that's been under construction for all this time and will for 5 more years...
Car gets dirty- but it cleans up easily. A decent clay, wax, sealant once/twice a year does wonders. And you can run it through a touchless automatic wash every so often.
Go with your gut. Is it a bit more up keep, probably. I may be in the minority- but I actually enjoy washing my car.
Some owners get their car, wash it religiously and take good care of it for 6 months, then slack off and before you know it, couldn't bother to run it through an auto wash...

Black is beautiful, if you have the time to devote to it.
But with that being said, mine is a fair weather toy. If it were bought as a daily driver, there is no way in hell it would have been black.

not much more work for someone who does not care about swirls? i hope you dont wash your car at a car wash place if so your doing more damage than harm to your car if you use the brush.
