I thought about putting Davey (As he is my one of my favorites) but I didn't because his time was cut short. (I think he would have been one of the greatest, if not 'the' greatest.)

 

 

Only a couple of these guys really raced Fords. The rest of them race/raced NASCAR Cloned race cars that fit a template that had a blue oval sticker on the side.

 

True, but I'm not going to have numerous stipulations for each driver. And regardless of templates, all had blue oval power under the hood.

 

I'm new to NASCAR, but count me down as a #20 Tony Stewart fan.

Not a big deal, maybe I should have a poll for any driver. I wish Tony drove a Ford. I think he's the best all around race car driver in the USA.

 

Sorry I didn't read the poll thoroughly before I voted. I didn't see the "Ford" part and wondered how you could leave the "King" off the list.

I would have to voted for David Pearson, so add 1 to his vote total and subtract 1 from "other"

Yup, King did drive a Ford and so did Earnhardt, Waltrip, Yarbrough, etc. I was trying to list those who have won a Championship with Ford and/or won numerous races with the brand.

 

Just to be accurate. Pearson driving a 1968 Ford Torino (year he won his 2nd championship. Won his 1st driving a Dodge).

 

He won in 1969 in a Ford as well. And Ned Jarrett won his first Championship in a Chevy.

Sure did. He never won a NASCAR Championship and I don't think he ever competed in a full season. I think he has under 10 wins in his NASCAR career. He could drive just about anything, though!

And while we're tossing out names, Mario Andretti drove a Ford to his 1967 Daytona 500 victory.

 

Well he won Indy four times didn't he? I would call him the greatest Ford driver ever.

 

OK . . so should I start a poll for just "The greatest Ford driver?" And have it open to all F1, Indy, NHRA, USAC, IMSA, NASCAR, Aussie V8 WRC, Ford drivers?

I don't count A.J. as one of the "Best FORD Drivers in NASCAR history", because he never competed on a full time basis.
