Roush Fenway co-owner Jack Roush and Pastrana announced the move Thursday. Roush said the 11-time X Games gold medalist in motorcycle events is serious about making a full-time move to NASCAR and plans to drive in all 33 Nationwide races. He has made nine career Nationwide starts.
"Travis is a champion," Roush said. "It takes a great deal of drive and determination to reach that level of greatness in any field. He is serious about this move to NASCAR and we are committed to doing everything we can to see his career develop in NASCAR. We would certainly expect to see a great level of excitement brought to the table as he progresses within our sport."
RFR will have two full-time Nationwide entries with Pastrana and 2010 Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne in the No. 6 Ford. Pastrana will team with veteran crew chief Chad Norris.

Probably for the reason Gary mentioned. Name recognition among fans of other sports and things hes been involved in, not to mention the generally younger ages of the fans of those sports. And he comes across as a likeable, sincere, down to earth guy from what I've seen of him through the years, and hes excelled at basically everything hes gotten involved in.

Pastrana will be 30 years old this year, I highly doubt he'll be able to do something in NASCAR.
I think Roush should've gone with a young unknown driver who can move to the Sprint cup in few years, since Greg Biffle is not getting any younger. The same thing that Roush has done with Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ...

Roush was having trouble rounding up sponsorship money for their nationwide teams and Travis most likely brings a lot of money to the table from his own sponsors or maybe even from his own pocket. Even if he isn't that sucessful he commands a different audience and could likely bring new and younger attention to the sport. I think with his full commitment he will do well and I look forward to seeing him progress.
