INDYCAR: 2012 Presentation Cars Unveiled
Motorsport section has been kind of quiet . . .

I like it, especially the road/street course version. Looking forward to see some different body panel types . . . soon! Wouldn't also mind seeing a 'Blue Oval' on the side of an engine compartment or two in the near future!

Simply put, the 2012 car looks like a number of past and present open-wheel cars, but it also carries enough original styling cues to distance itself from the current car while providing a fresh take on Indy car architecture.
Initial impressions?
Hideous.
Second impression - The fueler is going to have a FUN time leaning over all that, I think.
Third impression - I don't understand the aero package for the ovals... it seems that would make them go faster, although I bet the air is cleaner behind them...
I dunno. It's... really out there. Whatever, though, as long as it's safe and drives ok.

I love it!
This kind of stuff reminds me of the days when open wheeled racing had crazy stuff like Fan cars and 6-wheelers. Not as radical but in the same spirit.

They've shown concepts for a semi-enclosed rear body a few times in the past, nice to see that those weren't totally BS concepts.
Unfortunately, they're still essentially a closed series.Restricted engines, restricted chassis. Until anyone can build a chassis and engine (within reasonable standards) to race Indycar it does nothing for me. Being more restricted than NASCAR, when NASCAR is bordering on Draconian, is not the way to go.
