Ford engine coming on at right time for Chasers

FONTANA, Calif. -- Hard work and patience are starting to pay off for the Ford teams in the Chase as performance of the FR9 engine continues to increase.
"We are coming on at the right time with the teams and the engine," said Pat DiMarco, Ford's NASCAR program manager. "It's been a tough year and a half, but everything is pointed in the right direction for these last seven races."

Edwards will win, it's just the matter of time. He scored more points in the past 10 races than any other driver.
And I'm pretty sure Allmendinger will win too and will be a Chase driver next season.

I've been extremely impressed with Allmendinger. He's really coming into his own.

There are many winning drivers out there, they just need win capable equipment to put them there. The car of tomorrow has ended up being the car of disaster for Ford. They just don't seem to be able to crack the code.

Justin Allgaier from Nationwide series is the future star. And his contract with Penske is up. Trevor Bayne also (he recently signed with Roush in the Nationwide series), Brian Ickler ...

All of these guys mentioned are good, but they won't stand a chance in Nascar as long as the powers that be don't quit changing the rules to favor the Chevy- Toyota gang! And poor Dodge ... why do they bother?! Nascar on Sunday is a 3 hour long Chevy commercial for crying out loud! I just hope the FR9 does some undeniable things in Nascar to steal Chevy's spotlight! What really chaps my back-side is that Jimmy Johnson can win 5 Cup championships but if a Ford driver wins 3 races in a row, he is in their words "Stinking up the show"! I'm tired of the bias against Ford!

Ford has the cooling edge? Doug Yates, head engine builder for Roush Yates Engines, explained why the cooling systems of Ford's FR9 engines seem to have an advantage because they can run hotter, enabling Ford teams to push cars longer than their Sprint Cup competitors. "Together with the radiator and the header tank and the engine, we've designed it to run hotter and to have less grille opening," Yates said. "We saw that from the first day we rolled it on the track. We got a lot of criticism because we were the last guys out with our engine, but it seems being the last guys out we combined all the best technology into one."(Kansas City Star)(2-19-2011)

So, after Ford's 1-2-3 and after seeing RCR blowing up (and fairly early) yesterday, I have to say the new engine is definitely doing its job. I wonder if the cooling advantage allowed Fords to be better "pushers" in the 2-car drafting we saw yesterday, since the car behind would be sucking in much less (if any) cool air.

I think you are correct and I think Trevor 'pushed' all day. (Although I did take a nap during the middle of the race.) I don't remember him (or other Fords) having to swap places like the other manufacturers.

Dont get to excited fellas, I'm sure Nascar is thinking of way to "punish" Ford for the 1, 2 3 finish, I can just see the Chevy and Toyota people saying crap that Ford has an "edge' now just like when the Taurus appeared on the scene....

I agree, I think it's just the matter of time until we see another rule change that would benefit Chevy and hurt Ford.
