Ford asks NASCAR if they can use the Mustang in Sprint Cup...

Now would be the time for NASCAR to ****can the Truck Series and replace it with real cars that are built into race cars, i.e. Boss 302R, FR 500, Camaro SSR, Challenger and if they dare Porsche, BMW M3R etc-Think...
Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge

Run 2/3 of the series on Ovals and 1/3 on Road Courses.

Bring back "Race on Friday or Saturday and sell on Monday!"!!

Wait so what you are saying is to get NASCAR back to it's roots? Or am I misreading that? That would be a great thing though.
it's one of the main reason I love V-8 supercars. Every car starts as a production car and they go from there. Oh and they look like the cars they are supposed to be made from too

What was that old saying Race on sunday sell on monday? ahh those were the days.

If NASCAR changed and started using REAL cars instead of generic bodies and stickers I would actually watch it

I wish I got SPEED

I still prefer NASCAR over any other type of racing simply because there are actually lead changes in NASCAR. Can't say the same thing for other types of racing.
2011 Daytona 500 alone has 74 lead changes - I don't think the entire F1 or WTCC (or any other type of racing) season had that many lead changes.

You Know.... with all of the SE's... A mustang in nascar could be fun if they took advantage of thier SE styling...Some drivers could drive "GTs" others "California Special", "Boss302", "Shelby GT500"..It wouldn't be that hard to style a paint scheme around the factory stripe design onto the car. I can hear it now...

Carl Edwards: "Yeah man, This Ford Mustang Boss302 was really strong out there today.."

Of course... its just words... but I see a possibility here from a Ford Marketing standpoint. They already aren't driving actuall Mustangs.. why not take it to the next level?

They don't even have to turn at all for all I care , as long as there are lead changes.
I just don't find anything interesting in types of racing where the same driver leads each and every lap and wins by the wide margin. There's fun in that?

I like NASCAR and WRC. That's pretty much it.

Because it's impossible to make an actual stock car safe enough to survive 200 mph crashes.

Plus its a lot more expensive. This way everybody use the same body shell, just put some stickers on it and a new car is ready in a week. I don't think it's possible for let's say Roush to prepare 10 (4 for Roush, 3 for Front Row, 2 for Petty and 1 for Woods Brothers) new "stock" Mustangs each week, at least not without some major investments in space and man power. It's just too expensive.

Rumor is 'Body in White' cars direct from Ford (and I suppose other manufacturers) coming in 2013 or 2014 . . . .

You misunderstood.

I'm saying they should brand the new COT NASCAR Mustang like they brand the street cars... Let Teams choose which brand of "mustang" they want to race. GT, GTCS, Boss302, ShelbyGT500, etc

I wouldn't mind seeing that, although I don't see a point. It's just stickers - the body would still be identical and all of them would still be powered by 351cid V8.

Either that or go the other way and just cover the cars with nothing but white paint and sponsor stickers

For one thing they won't be going 200 mph, and a Sprint Cup race car costs between $125,000 and $150,000. A Boss 302R is $129,000 from Ford Racing.

Some drivers got to 205 mph last week at Daytona during practice.

And they can't just take a car from different series and start racing them in NASCAR. It would require a lot of work to get them NASCAR ready.
Either way, it would require some major investments from all 4 companies (who's Toyota gonna race, a stock Scion tC?). I don't think Ford Racing can build 10-15 brand new Boss 302Rs (plus at least one more backup car for each driver) each week, at least not without investing in space and man power.

I just saw some of the Arizona Nationwide race, and I gotta tell ya, that Mustang looked really good goin' 'round the track.

But then, the rear end of it looks way better than production, as it's flat.

/seriously, it makes a HUGE difference...

This could save NASCAR...real Mustang,Camaro, and Challenger sheet metal,on the correct production sized NASCAR type chassis, wheelbase same as the production cars. Must run the current production engine, available to the public, in a minimum 1,000 cars produced...just like the 1966 NASCAR rule.
This woul bring the HP and speeds down, plus save the teams big money on specialized engine parts. Has to be factory built.
As far as Toyota....they better build a V8 powered performance car or run their best production V6.

Quick Reply: Ford asks NASCAR if they can use the Mustang in Sprint Cup...
