So this is absolute BS
F1 Drivers Not Allowed Help From Crew
This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. They'll simply go from telling the drivers straight out what to do, to using code, so the viewers listening in on the radio calls will have no idea what's really going on, taking out some of the drama. Nonsense.

While an F1 driver might be alone on the track, racing is a team sport. In F1, that goes as far as engineers telling drivers precisely how to drive over the radio in order to get the best out of the car. However, a ruling has now banned conversations like that with immediate effect.
In order to place more of the onus of driving the car on the driver (novel concept), the FIA has banned all radio conversations related to the performance of the car. Strategy, like pit stops and, probably, team orders, is still allowed to be discussed. But that discussion can no longer include things like "you can save more fuel if you shift into fourth for this corner" or "your tire wear in turn 12 is insane."
Nope. Now the drivers have to figure out themselves how to keep the cars running. Some drivers will have no issue adjusting, while others will be chewing up set after set of tires that they never learned how to properly preserve.

Great job Lewis! World Champion II !!!
Amazing how Mercedes power zoomed to the dominant position while Ferrari and Renault went straight to the crapper.
But they have GOT to do something to that horrible sounding V6. It ruins one of the key visceral dimensions of Formula 1 racing. I find myself watching GP2 just to hear V8's sing!

It's not the engines that is causing the exhaust noise, it's the fuel regulations. Having flow rates and total usage so closely monitored, the cars don't run anywhere near the real redline of the motor to save fuel. Therefore what you hear at the peak rpm's before they shift is what amounts to 3500rpm in a normal car.
I'm glad that the double points BS didn't cause problems in the end. The right man won the title. He was the dominant driver all year, and if not for some extremely unfortunate events, he'd have wrapped up the title before the last race.
