With one event remaining in the Championship, the Sydney Telstra 500 in a fortnight’s time, Courtney has extended his Championship lead to 53 points over Whincup with Winterbottom almost out of reach 203 points behind.

However, Courtney said that he is not even looking at the Championship points table just yet.

“If you were to start looking at it you would freak yourself out, confuse yourself, or just start racing Jamie; there are 28 other guys out there, including Mark, to race against,” Courtney said.

“On the Saturday night at Homebush we might look at it and try to work out a strategy.”
