Stewart drove like a maniac earlier in the race and for some reason everybody was letting him just pass them.
At one point even Trevor Bayne did. Not sure why, I mean, Stewart is gonna win a championship because his Chevy teammate Jeff Burton let him pass him in the closing laps of Phoenix's race last week.

Why is it that when you lead someone by 22 points with only 35 laps left that you pit again right after you just pitted, just to get 2 tires and a splash of gas just so you can come back out BEHIND the guy you are leading in points?!?!?! Even after that, he was figured out to be several laps short on fuel! I wanna know who paid who to duck out on that championship when Edwards had it in the bag?!

Well, once again, watching another season of Nascar was like being sucked in to listening to a long dumb joke with a lame punchline!

Exciting race for sure. But sucks for Carl. It seems as if cars were pulling over for Tony at times..

I turned it off when the crowd booed the First lady. Doesn't seem like it was a bad decision.

Well . . . would have been nice to see a Ford driver win the Championship. I'm not too upset Tony won. I think he may be one of the best drivers in North America. (3 NASCAR Cups, Triple Crown Champion, IRL Champion, IROC Champion)

Steward earned it. Cant deny him. He had to win the race JUST TO TIE the points lead. In the end, the only driver who could have done anything about it was Carl, and he got beat. And that folks, is racin'.

Nascar got its wish... the guy with the most wins won the championship. In a pretty crazy way though!

Stewart can thank Burton for title

When Tony Stewart runs down his list of people to thank this Thanksgiving, Jeff Burton should be at the top of his list. Without Burton’s help, Carl Edwards – not Stewart – would be the 2011 Sprint Cup champion.
On the last lap of the penultimate race in the Chase at Phoenix, Stewart ran fourth and Burton third. As Stewart approached Burton’s bumper, Burton moved over without putting up a fight, allowing Stewart to take third and gain one more championship point.
That proved to be the difference.
When the final tally came in, Stewart and Edwards were tied atop the standings with 2,403 points, with Stewart taking the title based on the tiebreaker – most wins. Had he finished fourth at Phoenix, Stewart would have finished with 2,402 points, meaning Edwards would be the champion.
Why didn’t Burton put up a fight when Stewart closed on his bumper?
As Yahoo! Sports reported prior to last Sunday’s season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, both drive for Chevrolet. As fellow Chevy driver and Burton teammate Kevin Harvick explained, that loyalty runs deep – especially when the driver Stewart was chasing was in a Ford.
“I think everybody in a Chevrolet would rather see a Chevrolet win, just knowing how much it means to the manufacturer,” Harvick said last Friday. “So you go about cutting him some slack on restarts, little things like that and on pit road, whatever the case may be.”
When asked point blank about the scenario at Phoenix, Harvick left no doubt about what went down.
“Burton let [Stewart] go,” he said.

Real class act right there, just like his brother. Sponsors and teams should be proud to pay someone like that millions of dollars a year to represent their brand.
