TP or not to TP, that is the question

I was really hoping the TP would come in cheaper, but it look like 2995 is the price. Basically another 5% to the total. So I'm asking myself if it is really that cool of an option. I might actually track this car a few times in its life, but not regularly and it will be me driving it, so I doubt it will be that close to its limit. Also, this car is mine forever, I will not trade it off. Been saving a long time to do this, and really I guess I could save another few months and its done.

So twenty years from now, will I be kicking myself for not buying this option..any opinions?

At $2995 the track pack truly is debatable for most people. However, if you really will have it for 20 years, the debate goes right out the window. Get everything you want on it. $2995 is only like 50 bucks a month over the course of a 5 year loan. Thats nothing when looked at over a twenty year period.

Something to think about is whether or not you are going to want 3.73's if you don't get the TP. To me the gearing would be the biggest thing you would notice during everyday driving.

According to the Ford website that has been updated again the Track Pack will delete the fog lights for brake cooling. Just something to think about.

Saw that and I like the fogs, which sadly, is my debate lol. I'm thinking I'll just stick with the 3.31s, not a big fan of drifting here

Another big thing, will the TP void factory warranty... will know Wednesday I suspect.

I can't imagine the TP voiding the factory warranty...if anything, it aids in maintaining the vehicle's performance parts. I don't think that will be the case.

Like Insidious said, if the car is yours for decades there really isn't much of an option--get the car how you want it. I'm in your shoes and will be driving this car when I'm 60 (I just turned 38). At the most, you'll be paying on this car for six years, maybe five. You say you'll track the car only a few times, but once you do I imagine you'll want to do so more often. I'm getting the Track Pack because I know it will benefit the car once the warranty is up, and I'll have this thing until I can't see out the windshield anymore. The fog lights are pointless for me, nothing more than aesthetics.

Remember everybody, track pack is not the performance pack.

The performance pack locks you into 3.31 not the track pack.

Performance pack is just that, performance items (suspsension, gearing, etc)

Track pack is just that, track items (fluid coolers). The track pack does nothing for performance, it only adds durability if you plan to track it.

Still, my previous comments stand. In the long run, adding these items after-the-fact will be a major pain in the butt. If it turns out you LOVE tracking this car (which you will), then you will want these coolers.

I would hope not as well, but I saw some posts on other forums and kinda looked around, this:

http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/2012mustangboss/

look at the front air splitter, can void warranty and it has no mechanical function on the vehicle that would change the wear. It only implies this is a race vehicle...idk

TP

I'm going to place my order tomorrow.I'm definately doing TP.A differential cooler alone is $1500.00.An engine oil cooler is $12-1500.00.With 650HP you will need all the cooling you can get.I actually think the $2995.00 will be money very well spent if you are even thinking about going to the track.

I think the PP will be the most popular option on the car. Unless you're really going to put in lots of track time I think the TP would be a bit of a waste for most.

It also says it must be installed by customer...It's a stretch to say that because you have external coolers on the vehicle you're using it outside of its intended operating capacity. Who knows, maybe it depends on the dealership. I'll give mine a call and ask them about it just to be sure, but I'd be surprised if they void the warranty.

I can't believe that anybody buying the 2013 GT500 would even consider not getting the TP; it is absolutely staggering to me. What is this car all about if not performance? Unbelievable.

Agreed but I also felt that Ford should have just included these like GM does on the ZL1. However, I've been trashed by the drive it once in awhile and leave in my garage crowd that just wants a blvd cruiser. Buy a GT! LOL

Why not, I wouldn't mind at all if the car was overbuild for my use. If anything I'd have better piece of mind. Unless reviews prove otherwise it will be on my GT500.

if you plan to track this car in any capacity you should get the track pack.

It will also help resale in the near future and DRASTICALLY help resale in the not near future.

I think ford fif us a great favor. People who want this equipment will get it, and not think twice about it. Sort of the same way some people have to have the latest Ipad and what nots. They just buy them, because they want everything it can offer.

For others they look at the "will i really use that ? " and buy accordingly. I think Ford was smart by meeting both crowds in the middle and letting them walk away with what they wanted.

all 2013 Shelby's have 3.31's gears no matter what you order

the TP is fully warranted as is everything else you can factory option.

Does it still provide brake cooling?
