Painted rockers/rear skirt on 2011/2012 GT500s??
Hi,
Im looking at the 2011-2012 Shelby GT500 leftovers now that the 2013 Shelby GT500 is "rocking the world". Also looking at the 2013 GT's
On the 11 and 12's, One of the things I absolutely hate is the cheap black cladding used on the lower part of the front skirt, rocker panels and rear lower bumper shirt. If I get one, I would like to do something about it.
Does anyone know if you can replace that junk with painted, color body matched, panels? Is there someone that sells these aftermarket?.. Or can you paint and clearcoat that stuff and will it look any good? I think not, since it has a rough texture to it .
EVERY car I see after a year or so with that stuff fades, or if you get wax on it Forget it!! Luckily. the 2013's go back to painted like my 2006.
Thanks for your help.
Chris

I had mine done... Make sure the painter knows how to do it right. Lots of steps to make it really come out well. I don't know what process he used but it was very time consuming.
