New to the Shelby side
I didn't think I'd be trading in my '12 Boss for a long time, but Friday night I did just that and got the '13 Shelby.

Simply stunning, sir. Congrats!!
I bought '12 in Dallas but before I picked it up brought it home to California, I had the whole front end, A-pillars, first 10" of the roof, mirrors, doors, rear splash areas, and around the trunk opening all protected with 3M clear bra at a place called Speed Specialists in Addison. You can't even notice it is there. It was pretty spendy and it requires attention to proper care products, but if that is something you would ever consider, I would highly recommend it. It turned out great and it gives me piece of mind that my paint is safer from rocks, bugs, and road debris.

Yup ... my first choice combo too!! Love BLK and the BLK stripe!
Nice upgrade. If you'd call it that because the BOSS is a super sweet machine too.
Congrats on the purchase!! Good to see these cars hitting the roads and garages!
Now for the feedback after a few hundred miles.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've got about 120 miles on her so far and have been pretty gentle for the initial break-in. I did play a little with the launch control this evening after passing 100 miles. Gonna have to keep getting the feel for it... not a subtle change from the Boss in HP.
The fact that I can hit right at 90 (if not a hair below) in second gear is nuts. I've read that 3rd will take it to 140, but it'll be a little while before I test those waters.
The black on black was a factor in pulling the trigger to get it. Before the Boss, all of my "fun" cars were black. It's a joy/nightmare. It looks SO good clean, but it only seems clean for about 30 after detailing it.
Forkmachine: thanks for the info on the clear bra... I'll look into it. Every little rock chip seems magnified with black paint.

Good luck with the new ride.....................Let the mods begin..
As you didn't order your Shelby, how was the buying experience ? Threads on several websites mentions 10 to 15K mark-ups. Seems dealers are more likely to order @ MSRP, but mark up the cars on the lot. How did you do on trade-in $$$ ?

I got nicked a little on the trade-in because a repair from being rear-ended last year showed up on CarFax, but only a little.
The dealer was going to have a 10K ADM, but since I was a returning customer I got them to go down to 3. Not happy that I paid any ADM at all, first time I've done that. But it was spec'd out exactly how I would have ordered it so I talked myself into going along with it. A bit of a bitter pill to swallow, but I guess that's the cost of impatience on my part.

Definitely. Black is tough - my '70 coupe splash areas look pretty bad from all the rock chips in the relatively new black paint. PM me if you want any more info on the shielding. I am very happy with mine and my car had to share the shop with two new McLarens when it was getting the work done, which was pretty cool...the only thing I wish is that I had sprung for an extra $150 for ceramic window tinting while I was at it.

Beautiful car. I have a question that is probably pretty simple. There seems to be two kinds of chin spoilers/air dams. One is like this one and the other has the addition of the "winglets" which looks like it attaches to the one picutred here on this black one. Anyone know if this is tied to a particular option package?
