A Legend Reborn: Shelby American Brings Back the Shelby GT350
Did you drive both cars? The Bullitt does not handle like a Shelby GT. I have driven both, hard, and the Bullitt's suspension is nowhere near the Shelby GT's. Now I did LOVE the exhaust on the Bullitt and liked the Bullitt for the sleeper it was. I wish I could own both but I know for a fact they don't handle the same.
Is the handling worth 10K more? No way, but I didn't buy my Shelby GT for just the handling. I liked the look of it as well and I got a good deal.
Not sure on this GT 350 though. I definitely can never afford one even if I did want one.
Honestly Shelby should have used a 2011 V6, installed a supercharger, Brembos, Roll Bar, Recaros and Track Pac w/sticky tires. That would be closer to the original GT350...400+HP,lightweight(relatively), great handling(close to 50/50 weight distribution), FAST and more affordable (40,000 or so).
The body parts used seemed like they've just thrown together items that other tuner companies have used over the years.
Front bumper (which looks like it's just an extention) is from the 2002 Roush Stage 3 Mustang.
Hood looks like the 2010 Saleen S281.
Ducktail spoiler looks like CDC.
Saleen has been doing center exhaust systems since 1999.
Reverse lights taken from Eleanor.
Tail Light treatment looks like those Euro tails you can get from American Muscle.

I'm with most of the group here, totally not digging it. As I understood it the GT350 was plain and simple, a high performing version of the regular production mustang, with some distinctive visual cues. I don't even know how to describe this thing. Yes it has a SC 5.0 and appears to have some suspension upgrades, but aside from that it's a freakin body kit more than anything else. And an overdone one at that, in my opinion. Probably would have been better off with the included performance improvements, some wider wheels, functional ram air or heat extracting hood, new front and rear fascias (not as extreme as what they ended up with), and a simple stripe paint job.
I saw that and it made me wonder...
as we know the S197 hoods get to fluttering at 120 or so... maybe the large opening in the front air dam creates an air flow designed to provide some 'suction' to hold the hood on at high speed.
I'd love to know if they've done wind tunnel work on designing the skirting.

I'd be willing to go out on a limb and suggest that skirting and body kit is nothing but a visual package.
I doubt very very highly it's been wind tunneled.

After a day I've come back to look at the pics again, like the hood and rear blackouts and thats about it..... I really just don't know who would pay this much for this car... but hey I'm 23 and don't know any better...
On a much better note, I passed a new black on black (stripe delete) GT500 today and almost wet my pants as I rolled down the window honking and screaming... Thats the affect a Shelby should have, not let me take a day and come back to it. That is all
O ya, and the saleen is HOT

i liked the shelby gt a lot... i was hoping this gt350 was just going to be a name change with a 5.0... this is the first mustang i havent really cared for in a looooooooong time. id still take it over anyother car other than another mustang though.
Wow what a mess....MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT......The Body kit looks like something you would buy from JC Whitney. Very cheap and tacky. too many lines going in too many directions with no design cohesiveness. The exposed srews on the pillar pod and the front bumper and grill pieces added on over the factory bumper skin are unforgivable on a $60K car, along with the tacky side skirts and rear bumper pieces. The heavy looking cheap black tail light trim and decklid trim also look like they are direct from a late 70's or 80's JC Whitney catalog. The center exhaust is terrible and those tacky little round backup lights in the lower bumper look ridiculous! Even the SHELBY lettering looks out of place....No Thank You! Shelby needs to leave Mustang Making to Ford, at least they can deliver a respectable well built and designed SHELBY, it's called a GT-500! As for the GT-350
Very Disappointed!
I am a huge fan of all things Shelby and I usually defend Shelby when others bash him for pricing, etc. However I am truly disapointed in this new GT350. The styling should have been more understated IMHO. There is really nothing about this version as far as esthetics are concerned that I like.
Performance wise it may be fantastic but it's really unattractive. Speaking of unatractive it should have been priced at around 15K (plus the GT) - that would be reasonable for a handling and braking upgrade and a supercharger.
This will be a total sales disaster and there really is no excuse for it.

And why do all the photos of the rear have the lights on? Are we supposed to be impressed that the brake lights work? And what happened to the white lights between the red ones? Unplugged and covered up with the new trim? How lame.
