Smile I have gone and done it !

I finally put my finances in order so I could place an order for a 2014 GT500. I just ordered a 2014 GT500 in the following configuration:

Race Red with white stripes
Leather Recaro seats
SVT PP package
Track Pack
Car Cover
Standard stereo
I would have preferred orange with black stripes, but orange was not available. I am not a fan of the SVT wheels, but I can always replace them with aftermarket wheels.
I am thrilled to have a Shelby GT 500 in my future. I did not want to wait any longer and miss out on getting a GT500. The dealer I bought from had only one allocation for a GT500. I feel like I made my move just in time.

I was thinking I will probably be taking delivery in late August or early September from what I have observed on various forums. I will just be thankful to get one before the 2014 is discontinued. I placed my order because I do not know for certain if future models will have the power level now available.

.
Biggest reason I placed an order for a 2014 also. ( not wild about the new body style either )
We'll both see if we guessed right..

Congulations on your order. Great color combination. My guess is that you're going to enjoy driving this new car more than that 71 SCJ.

It's been 8 months, where are the pictures?

I did get my Race Red GT500 on August 21. The car is absolutely gorgeous. The SVT wheels look so very good on a Race Red GT500. As you all recall, I was not fond of the SVT wheels before I bought my GT500. The SVT wheels have to be seen in person before one can appreciate them. I usually take pictures of my cars the day I buy them, but it was raining the day I picked up my GT500 so I drove it straight to the my garage after the rain storms had briefly stopped. I was afraid I was going to get hail damage on my first day of ownership. Unfortunately, I have not taken one picture of it yet. Currently, my GT500 is in a garage surrounded by two foot of snow. The workmanship and paint was perfect on my GT500. I have found no flaws, but would like to have something around 3.73 rear gears in it. I was impressed how much better it handles than my 2007 Mustang GT. It is the best Mustang I have bought.

I think Ford did the gears the way they did so it would do 0 to 60 in 1st gear

They chose the 3.31 gears so the car would (theoretically) reach 24mpg on the highway and avoid the gas guzzler tax. Getting to 60 without shifting is just a bonus.

Oh, it'll hit 80 in first gear. And if you're in it, the tires will break loose at 80. Just sayin...

Imagine 2.73 gears on there. Wonder how that would affect all its numbers.

I hear that some companies are looking at putting 7 speed manual transmissions in their cars. I wonder if a 7 speed is really the answer to better fuel mileage. Do we really need another gear in a car like a GT500 ? I would think a 5 speed could get the job done with 5th gear being the high mile per gallon gear. The more gears added to a trans has to add weight to the trans. I would think the lighter the cars , the more the fuel mileage would improve.
