GT500 Vs. ZL1 MotorTrend straight line #'s side by side
GT500 vs. ZL1 by the Numbers
Motortrend is the first media outlet to provide straight-line performance numbers of both the cars.
Keep in mind these results were not on the same day or even the same part of the country (ZL1 test was in Arizona) but the numbers speak for themselves.

Hey Shaun, can you answer this for us.

The Recaro is a full specialty seat. I'm sure the standard seat is cheaper since they buy more of them in bulk than the Recaro.

The seat debuted last model year (2012) and it was a new seat that is low volume (this affects parts and labor costs).

I would love to see the retail on a complete leather oem seat from Ford. My point is that people are paying more money for a truly cheaper seat. You can pick up a cloth recaro sport line for about $500-600.

The only thing they had to do was make a seat track to fit it. It's the same seat man. Just saying that it shouldn't be an upgrade paid option is all. Especially when it comes to leather oem to recaro option.

This is not the case. This seat was devolped ground up for the Mustang program and even has it's own bespoke frame (not track but FRAME) for the Mustang plus it has side airbag, Occupant classification system, provisions for seat belt pre tensioners and if you put this seat next to the seat you think its you will find the bolsters are a different shape, size and location......
Further more regardless of what you believe there is a cost differencial

Those numbers kinda kill the excitement before anyone even gets them on the same track together. Put the same driver in both cars, and I'd bet my house the GT500 is the class of the show. Those numbers are much more one-sided than I expected. Also, to me the most impressive number is the brake distance from 60-0. That's less than 35 yards on a football field. Those are some big *** brakes.
That's about where it ends.
Back to discussing the car.
The braking performance has more to do with how well the tires grip the road, well for magazine tests anyways. I've been told the tires used on the GT500 aren't all that different from the tires used on the ZL1 which I suspect are really sticky - moreso than your average high performance summer tire.
