Dry sump vs. wet sump is a difference . . . .

I haven't seen specs on the block so can't comment on other differences.

The GT used a true twin screw blower. Made by Lysholm I think, or was it Whipple?

Lysholm makes Whipple's rotor sets as well as Kenne Bells. KB and Whipple just make the case and kit.

Well isn't that funny... and look how many GT350 critics lambasted Shelby for using 'off the shelf' parts from other companies...

Actually, it was the first and only Eaton twin-screw supercharger. Eaton sourced the rotor packs from Lysholm. Suffice it to say, Eaton has since steered clear from that route; that's why we now have the TVS series of blowers, and not an Eaton twin-screw series of compressors.

Which is too bad, as twin screw > TVS.

That's not the case anymore, at least from Whipple's standpoint. Whipple had previously sourced their rotor packs from Lysholm. Because of supply issues with Lysholm, Whipple, out of necessity, has since begun making their own rotors, dubbed the "Gen II" rotors / compressors. The "Gen II" rotors feature an advanced profile and flow much more air at the same psi as compared to their Lysholm-sourced "Gen I" counterparts.

The supply issue, or lack thereof, is what also ultimately led Eaton to abandon making twin-screw superchargers of their own.

Kenne Bell used to source their 4/6 rotors from Autorotor, but have since changed suppliers as well. They're made somewhere in Sweden, if I'm not mistaken.

At low boost, I doubt you'll see much, if any, difference. Compare a 2.8L KB to a 2.3L Eaton TVS though, like MM&FF did, and you'll definitely see a difference.

LOL, some of us never get above 8-10 psi.

TVS is great for a street GT500 though I agree.

Just FYI, both the Saleen and new SMS superchargers use Lysholm-sourced rotors ("screws"). The SMS unit also uses Lysholm's cylindrical "Laminova" intercooler cores.

EDIT: Vortech's new VTS line of twin-screw superchargers use Lysholm rotors, too.

The aluminum block in the '11 GT500 is not a dry sump. This isn't the Ford GT engine. Ford has offered a wet sump 5.4 aluminum block for some time now.
