Do you dig the GT350?
Shelby could have had a car people were standing in line for. I thought the most telling aspect of the intro was at the end when the announcer told everyone how to place an order. If the car was done right people would have been tripping all over themselves demanding to place an order, no directions required. For an example of this see Alfa 8C, even at 500k they signed 1500+ orders the day it was unveiled.
There was a mention at release that shelby had 30 days to put this car out.....it shows.
I'll take that deal. LOL
Cause I think you may wind up eatin' those words after the final production hits the street/track and shows us what she's got.
500+HP without the weight of a GT500, handling & braking package, and who knows, maybe the ground effects are real and it will suck to a fast track at speed and beat everything in its class.
Too many assumptions at this point... but I'm not counting Shelby out just yet.

I can only guess all this Shelby bashing stems from it being outrageously unaffordable. Or perhaps it's just nostalgia syndrome, where the new can never live up to the legend of the old (e.g. Star Wars episodes 1-3). It's not perfect, but it still looks good.

The glamour shots everyone is looking at cast the car in its best light. I watched the unveiling and it looked so tacked together and sad going around the track. Epic fail.
The shelby bashing is due to their lackluster effort. Let's slap a supercharger, frpp springs, ground effects and wheels from the 80's and call it a gt350.

EXACTLY! See the car up close and it looks like a JC Whitney Catalog poster car. I really wanted this car to be "The One" for me even if it meant selling another Mustang and getting this one. They tried to hard to make it unique and they missed, badly, IMO. The front bumper cover is the best example of this along with the rear bumper cover with those backup lights thrown on. Not bashing it because of the price just the fact that it looks guady... The shelby GT's are a much better looking car! If I could put the new 5.0 in a 2007 Shelby GT that would be perfect!
No, it's because it's outrageously stupid looking. I don't hear too many people bash Corvette ZR1's, and they are a lot more expensive than this cobbled together joke.

Over bearing design and poor quality is not a good combination. It's a good decision on SAI's part to make the GT350 a low production model. In the best scenario the projected package production is the most they could hope to sell.
Rather than all Ford parts SAI should have taken a page from the 2000 Cobra R and gone with the top aftermarket companies and best performance parts and components available.
As for the exterior, Classic Design Concepts or Cervinis would have likely done a better job with the GT350 creation SAI had in mind. SAI just does not have the personnel and inginuity to convert the Mustang into a desirable, unique, and quality vehicle.

They just had to paint it and use a different hood, and it would have been just about perfect in my book (and worth $70k).

It is really too bad that CDC chose not to produce that front bumper.....

CDC already made the GT350 the way it should have been made.

p.s.- the Steeda Q550 bumper is similar to that CDC bumper......

This is obviously a photoshop. But it does look good and 100x better than the GT350 SAI just released.
