Too much plastic.

Shave that crap off the bottom and then we can talk.

I doubt it. When I first saw the pics I thought no fake hood scoop, one piece hood-real ram air... center rear exhaust exit... break ducts on the rocker panels... those are Doug's cues and part of previous ideas and designs.

Taking into account SAI's reliance on the past, theirr 60s creations recycled on Mustang models for the last four years, it was due time for a bit of progression.

SAI's previous products were not in the same league as Roush and Saleen. The GT350 is a winner and competes well against them.

Not really feelin it... I mean it's cool and all, but it's just... the overall look of it is weird to me.
And while I can surely appreciate the effort behind it and the idea of stemming away from the norm to pay homage to the original... It's just not doin it for me.

Maybe in person it'll be different, but still...

IMO This car is not for the average consumer, it's for the collectors.
Could I build a better car, sure I can but would it still be a GT-350 in 10 or 20 years from now? The answer is no.

Funny... I've been away for an hour cooking and came back and saw these front and rear pics for the second time. I'm diggin' it (even though I'm not a center exhaust guy).
I'd never spring for one, but if it handles that 500hp well, performance and appearance will make it unique - though not for everyone - like the original.

Powertrain sounds great but the styling "improvements" are a disaster.

Yeah, but if no one wants it now, why would they want it in 10 or 20 years?
The reason cars are collector cars is because people really wanted them back in the day but didn't have the chance.
I don't see this as a collector car since I can't see it being a highly coveted car today.

IIRC a similar situation existed for some of the most desirable classic and muscle cars today. Including Shelbys. For various reasons (high prices among them), they didn't do too well back then - resulting in rather small production runs = rarity.

Yeah, but there wasn't anywhere near the competition there is today.
As I see it, the old cars were bad a$$ (well, at least in motor) that no one could afford. They were unique in themselves, and made names for themselves on the streets or tracks which further hyped them up and made them more desirable. The new ones are average BS that people could afford if they wanted to, and the cars are nothing special.

Who knows though what will happen in the future? All I know is I am very sad to see this as the new GT-350, as the old cars are some of my favorites.

Isn't a GT cheaper, and you could even argue better. What will the Brembo package GT do this coming year? I would lol if it did better at the track. Not in a straight line, but around a track.

I know the front air dam is loud, but the grill with the headlights and scooped hood above is great looking!

In the rear, I'll take that any day over the **** Camaro diapered stocker 10/11. However, I'd prefer L & R exhaust rather than center.

500+HP and the handling/braking package could make it a contender.

I'm not here to defend Shelby I'm just providing my perspective of what I think. Could a Z06 or R35 mop the floor with this thing, probably.
I'm sure that 99% of the type of people that purchase these type of cars could care less what it looks like or how well it performs, all that they care for is the nameplate that goes along with that car and that means a lot to some.

Chances are that you or I would never see this car on the street.

Some side exhaust work would have been pretty cool.

I think the styling went to the far side of horrendous-SEMA-abortion and stayed there. The $70,000 price tag just adds insult to injury.

I don't see anything that would make me choose the GT350 over a similarly priced sports or GT car, or even a regular '11 GT w/ Brembos and Recaros.

when i started reading this thread, i was of the "meh"

another 500hp shelby mustang. whatever. i like the hood, the tailights,1/4 window, spoiler... but thats it. the cars got a few good elements, but overall its kind of a mess, visually. the bodykit is chunky and unattractive, looks nothing like a classic GT350, and makes the whole car look fat and ugly. i dont know what the heck is going on with the grille there.. and why on earth are the shelby letters on the bumper?! when did THAT become cool

so overall: meh

then i read about this extra $30K... WTF?! i was kinda excited for this new shelby. i had figured it'd be a GT350, who hadnt? but this is pretty much not at all what i want out of a mustang. Great engine, cool, whatever. i can slap a blower on any other coyote and make the same power. huge horsepower and flashy goodies on the outside might wow a casual observer (though not so much in this ugly duck's case) but tahts not really what makes a great car. im a bit disappointed in shelby... again. i guess i shouldnt be surprised
