Apparently the link to the article expired. I have seen one about the Flat Rock plant being idled in July and one that said Ford had decided to trim back some shut down time. After seeing some pieces of information, my own assumption is Flat Rock may be idled from July 4-28, 2013.

What takes time is the scheduling as a result of the allocation system. Each regional ford rep has their allocations for their dealerships. Everyone wants there's now but they can't build them all now. So they spread them out. Last year I had to wait till every single dealer in my area got their first allocation before I got my car which was a second allocation. And even then a lot of dealers already had their second or third if they were big enough.

I waited from May till December.

But if you have a date then that's good. I wasn't given any indication of date until late October.
I had a similar conversation with my dealer today. My Shelby is a 2nd allocation. My dealer said the zone rep was in and made a few calls about my car and then it got scheduled in the next batch. He thinks the zone rep cut my wait time way down and got my 2nd allocation scheduled a lot sooner than if it ran the normal course. Ordered on 4/3, built on 6/11, with an ETA to dealer of 6/14. The ETA got pushed today to 6/21. My car is built but is sitting with QC. My dealer said the Shelby's get scrutinized a lot more than a GT or V6 and will not be released unless perfect. He thought SVT even had to sign off to release it, they don't want a $60K-$70K car leaving with flaws. Once my car gets released to shipping it should come quickly as it is only going 40 miles and my dealer is very large and gets cars almost everyday. Hopefully next week will be the week.

Yeah for some reason my zone rep didn't like me. I have her to thank for my 6 month wait.

Ordered GT500 Convertible Black, Red Stripes, EP, Recaros. Second allocation.
Ordered on 04/11, got VIN yesterday (thanks to Daysha). No build date or ETA so far.
It seems like my car will be built after the plant reopens in July.

I received a VIN today. It took me about 2 weeks from the date of order to get a full VIN issued for a Shelby.

Many thanks also to Deysha.

Question

With regular Mustang sales lower, will Ford try to increase production of the GT500 before the plant is idled ?

I think our region manager used to date a guy with a Shelby and got dumped/cheated on. We both ended up waiting about six/seven months for ours.

I read an article on line that basically stated that the Flat Rock plant will not increase production in advance of the forthcoming July plant idle.

Dear transport company,

My Shelby was released to you last Thursday and you only have to take it 36 miles. I could have pushed the car to Ann Arbor by now. Could you please get it shipped ASAP? I really want to drive this car like yesterday.

Sincerely,

An Impatient Shelby Owner

Hey Saparish

New update, the Shelby had been sitting at Flat Rock since May 13th, now I find out the car which is being delivered to a dealership in PA is sitting at the yard in PA awaiting a transport hauler with a possible delivery date to the dealership of next week!!!

Good luck to you!
Dan

Hope your car comes soon, Danster. I was doing OK with the wait until my car got built. It kills me knowing it could be delivered in less than an hour but it's just sitting. I couldn't imagine waiting as long as you have since your build date. If mine doesn't get delivered soon, I might have to stick my check under the door of the dealership and go steal the car off the transport lot.

Just seen my Shelby...WOW, what a car. Everything I could ever want and more. Picking it up Monday...You guys will be excited...Well worth the wait. The sound is better than my SLP loudmouths on my 2007 GT. Not as loud but so good you do not need aftermarket. Thank you Carroll Shelby and Ford...

Hope everyone who ordered one gets it soon...Joseph.

P.S Did you see this is the last year (2014) of the GT500. The next one is a GT350 due in 2016 I believe...

Woo hoo Joseph. I can't wait for mine to come in. I may have to cruise by the holding lot this weekend and see if I can see mine sitting there waiting for a lift to the dealer. Make sure you post lots of pics when you get her.

Scott, it is Perfect. I hope you get yours soon. The sound is incredible. Never thought it was this good. The Best decision in my Life was to get this Shelby. So glad I never modded my 07 GT.

Those who have a Shelby and gave me that extra push I needed, Thank you again...You were correct, worth every dollar and more, Joseph...Come on Monday...
