I just wanted to point out how amusing it was to read you calling an end to beating dead horses... as you were beating it.
Dead.
I suspect we all understand your point about the axles already, if you don't do something about it (people have suggested painting them) or buy another car already, you're just enjoying the cathartic exercise of whining out loud.

Personally, my stance on it is nobody can see my axles (maybe that's an '08 GT thing that doesn't apply to the '10 gt500's?) and I'm sure other areas of the non-galvanized car will be problematic long before the axles will.

And back on topic, that Aluminum 5.4 block has been up on the FRPP site for a long time, I think that's from the Ford GT, isn't it? Is that actually the one that's going to be going into the GT500 next year?

Yeah like I'm going to go out and buy another car. Get real Man has this forum been on the decline since when the 05 came out.

That wasn't meant to be realistic. It was light sarcasm.

I honestly can never see my axles. Except the first time I was under there changing a panhard bar or a shock or something. I was surprised, but not aghast at the sight of it. Someday I'll probably paint it. Gives me a good reason to get a lift.

Yeah, I'm gonna spend $2999.95 for a bare ALUMINUM Engine Block. NOT!

GrabberStang over at www.fordgt500.com claims to have just tried the magnet test on his new 2010 GT500 engine block and that it failed to stick suggesting that he may in fact have an aluminum block: http://www.fordgt500.com/forums/show...highlight=2011

I doubt it. Pics or it's BS. It's EASY to get pics of the block and a single pic will tell the story.

A couple people, including myself, have already asked him for more proof/pics/etc.

There's a lot of other aluminum stuff on the engine (heads/timing cover, oil pan?, etc), so it would be easy to just put a magnet on the wrong thing and have it not stick.

He's posted pics of his car. He has the capability to post more. If I said something and you didn't believe me, I'd have pics online within 5 minutes. He's full of it.

Any luck? Maybe you can finally put this rumor to rest.

I'm very skeptical, too.

If I had to put money on it, I'd say it's iron... but let's see what happens.

People are making this very difficult. You don't need to go under the car. Just LOOK through the top of the engine bay FFS!!!

Exactly. I'm with you in that, also fueling my skepticism is the OP's (the person claiming they have an AL block) unwillingness to post pics of the block itself

Well, I just grabbed a camera, magnet, & flashlight and checked out our freshly arrived 2010 GT500. I won't waste my time uploading pics (because it has an iron block). If it had been aluminum I would have snapped pics, but it seemed a moot point since it turned out to be iron. Ours being iron doesn't mean that someone else couldn't have an aluminum block, but that would seem quite unlikely, IMO.

Upload them so the NEWBS will know how to look!!! No camera here at work I'd go out to the parking lot and do it right now!!!
