Aluminum Block Now Available on 2010 GT500???
There is someone (GrabberStang) over at www.fordgt500.com who claims to have a new 2010 GT500 with an aluminum block: http://www.fordgt500.com/forums/show...highlight=2011
We have a 2010 GT500 that just arrived where I work. I popped the hood for a look, but you can only see the block from under the car, so I could not verify block material. The heads and front dress are aluminum, and all the attached pieces appear aluminum, but the actual block is hidden out of sight from the top side of the engine bay. You would literally have to have the car up in the air to confirm block material.
He also mentions that it is posted on the build sheet that you can pull up with the VIN

I was at TASCA Ford the other day and asked them about the aluminum engine and they said that it would be in the 2011 not the 2010.
Personally, I think it is a mistake to go to in that direction at all.

based on reading what the guy said is that all he did was look in the computer. Back in january the parts guide listed the 5.4 as aluminum but it wasn't really.
So since this guy didn't actually go out and look at his engine block i say hes wrong. He doesn't sound like a car guy if he owns the car and it relying on some dealership computer.

You knew yours had an iron block when you bought it, so they're not ripping you off by giving the newer ones aluminum.
I can see why people would be "disappointed" (even MORE so the 2010 GT/V6 owners), but that's how this stuff works. You buy a car... and any minute, there could be an improved one. That's life.
No offense, but you got what you paid for.

I'm curious, why do you think the moving to an aluminum block is a mistake?
