OK, OK enough about the site.
Who cares at this point, it's probably subcontracted out to a website company.
Ford will give them the info and it will get cleared up.

$54,200 isn't too bad. I predicted $52k to start.
But considering the improvements and the power increase the $5-6k price increase over 2012 model isn't all that bad.
It would of been completely awesome if they'd of made the price $52k to start.
But with the price of the ZL1 Ford probably figured they could add a couple more grand to that and get it since the ZL1 is $54k to start too, but there is a $1,300 gas guzzler tax on the ZL1 and not the GT500. Plus the GT500 is faster and you know that usually means you gotta pay more.
But my issue is, with the SVTPP the GT500 is $58,500. Which is MORE than the ZL1, which comes track ready.

Add probably $1,200 for the Track Pack if you feel you really need the track pack (really only need for those who are going to go to the track and drive the thing to it's limits often, or if you are going to mod the car to make a bunch more power it might be nice too), but for most you could take a non Track Pack equipped car to the track and probably not worry about heating issues if you are not hardcore and driving the thing like you were a pro driver in a loaned car. Doubt many 13 GT500 owners will have the skill to drive this car anywhere near it's limit on the track anyway.

It's the SVTPP that will cost more mainly cuz of the higher priced wheels.

Lastly it's the stealerships that will keep most people from buying cuz those greedy bastards will try to stick a $10k+ dealer mark up on them for the first 6 months, making the sales figures plummet.

They are idiots, it's better to sell 5 of them at MSRP, than 1 at $10k over MSRP??
Ford will make as many as demand requires. If nobody is buying them cuz all the dealers want huge mark ups, they'll sit on lots for months and Ford won't make as many.
Sell them at MSRP or less after the first 6 months and a lot more people will buy.

 

I don't really recall anyone saying 70k. I said 70k for Canadians and I think that number will be bang on once you put in a few options.

 

Maybe Ford just hates Canadians.

Its not just Ford.
As the dollar was not comparible for a long time, the prices reflected that.
Over time now as the dollar has been at or close to par...we get absolutely RAPED on car prices, more and more as the price of the car increases...not to mention HST (13%)

Example...2012 GT500 STARTS at $58,999(Coupe)/$63,699(vert)

oh..and my other gripe..

Only SVT dealerships in Canada can sell new GT500/Raptors (yes...still)

 

Considering the dramatic difference, is it not more cost-effective to go south of the border and order a car in the US? I live in Texas and while on a border, we don't have near the relationship with Mexico that we do with Canada, so much of this is unknown to me. I'm guessing importing the car incurs harsh taxes?

 

Nope...its just you have to pay cash,(and theres some customs stuff involved)
and the car has to be import-able (like crash standards/Daytime running lights etc)
Bunch of members here have already done this and saved thousands.

 

A few people early on were factoring a 20% (per the Terminator and GT500 price jumps over the out going models) increase over the 2012 model for the base GT500 then figuring a topped out coupe would be in the 70k range.

That wasn't just this forum either, the few other forums I checked had similar feelings about the price (including one where there was a lengthy post as to why the GT500 would be exempt from normal market forces - it is to an extent, but the ZL1 is the car's direct competition).

I just checked the configurator at Ford - a base GT500 is 58.5k with the performance pack which isn't bad as seeing how the ZL1 is 54.9 + the 1.3 GG tax which makes the true price of the car 56.2

Hopefully that holds true as they iron out the configurator.

 

Right from the start, the ZL1 was intended to be a very limited production car. Therefore , GM could charge what they wanted to make money on a low production car. There would still be enough buyers for such a car at the price they charge. I was hoping Ford would keep the price of the GT500 lower than they announced for the base GT500. I would like for more people to have the opportunity to be able to pruchase a GT500. Heck, Ford would more than recover the lost profit from the sale of lower priced base GT500 cars by making more than enough money on the optioned GT500 cars. Ford would most likely get better price breaks from its outside suppliers if it sold more GT500 cars.

 

Like the ZL1, I think this GT500 is expected to be a very limited-run vehicle. They've said they'd build as many cars as people are willing to buy, but the price is going to sell more Bosses I think, along with heavily-optioned GT's. The GT500 has never been a high-volume vehicle to begin with. I'll be surprised if they sell more than 5,000 total, but I could be completely wrong on that. I don't really think Ford WANTS there to be a GT500 on every corner. It makes the GT that much less valuable and that much less of an option. Heck, I think that's one of the reasons they upped the performance on the car. When looking at that price, going with a loaded GT at $45k becomes REALLY attractive.

Having said that, I will be one of those who make whatever sacrifice necessary to own a GT500 optioned out exactly how I want it. This car is too much to pass up.

 

It came in about where I figured. Don't remember where we were discussing it, but I'm pretty sure I predicted mid to upper $60Ks for a loaded coupe. Just built one on the website and it came in just under $69,000.

 

Track package pricing is now on the website $2,995 for the Track pack

 

$63,080 for a Perfomance Pack + Track Package + Recaro seats!!!

Thats a steal for what it is

 

Now can you actually get one for $63,080? Dealers are getting ADM happy like the 07 model year again.

I am getting mine at MSRP. I had to dig, but there are dealerships out there which will sell you the car at MSRP.

 

I really hate when Dealers do that, it's just greed.

The car is pricey enough and some real car people are making serious sacrifices to get one and then they make it 5-10k worse just cause they can.

That mark up leads to deserving car people not getting what the want and cars SITTING for YEARS because the dealer thinks its worth it (despite the car not selling at the stupid marked up price)

 

If only Ford could have gotten that internet sales deal going, that would have set alot of dealers on the straight and narrow with cars like this.

 

What "internet sales deal" are you referring to? Just wondering as I never heard of anything.

If its the old thought of buying cars strickly online and never walking in, that will never happen. Too many rules to break through in each state.
