2013 GT500 Automatic?

Any chance the Shelby GT500 will get an automatic transmission as an option for 2013? GM is expecting about half of the new Camaro ZL1's to be ordered with an automatic and I would love to see this as an option for the GT500.

I think it would open up the GT500 to new buyers who only want an auto car and is really a great option for drag racing and daily drivers.

C'mon Ford, do it!

Does Ford have an auto out there that can handle the torque?

Who said Ford needs to make the trans??

Make it a 5-6k option to cover costs... who cares. The car is already in corvette pricing...
They seclude the car from a lot of buyers who don't want manual.

The Cobra Jet is auto... 3 speed

Good question, there are a lot of 3rd party options and I am sure they could OEM one like other components such as Tremec manual transmissions. Do you know if the ZL1 auto is a GM unit or OEM?

The next thing you'll want is a color combo that's not available for purchase.

Well, the late 69/70 Shelbys were available with autos (were the earlier ones?.....my Spotters Guide To Classic Shelbys isn't within easy reach )

Whilst I probably choose a manual, it'd be good to have a choice.

It is? I think I read somewhere that the majority of vehicles in America are auto's. The Shelby is a limited production car, how many people are really interested in in automatic? Ford isn't going to do it for 50 sales.

I'm actually really surprised its not an option considering the price of the car. I bet there's alot of older folks out there that would love to have that car and can easily afford it but just don't want to shift..

It's not like it's unprecedented...? 66 - 70 all had an automatic choice...

If a DCT can be offered and performs as well as the likes of SpeedShift, DualTronic, DSG, PDK, what's not to like? The option of shifting gears in under 100 milliseconds vs a manual 2-300 tops...

It's only a matter of time before Ford figures it out for GT500 application and with their partnership with Getrag, it'll happen soon enough. (the do have PowerShift currently...)
