2012 Kona Blue GT 500

I just bought this bad boy today. I fell in love with the red/kona blue GT500 colour scheme a year ago and finally picked one up today. I sold my Z06 last month and I've been debating between a CTSV and a GT500 as I wanted a supercharged V8 hot rod. The ford employee pricing helped make that decision alot easier as well.

I had looked at the 5.0's but I love the drool factor of the GT500, plus I prefer the exhaust note of the 5.4L over the 5.0L.

Specs:
2012 GT 500
SVT Performance Package
Recaro Racing Seats (Extremely comfortable)
Electronic Package with Nav/Sync

Excuse the iPhone pictures, I didn't have my camera with me as it was a unscheduled stop at the dealership that resulted in me signing the papers. I'll be picking it up on monday and more pictures will follow!

Nice ride! You will have to let us know how it feels when the ECU clicks out of safe mode and you get to feel the full boost for the first time.

That happens after 5 miles so he would have had full boost on the way home

Very nice! That might be one, if not the one, of the last Kona Blue GT500s ever produced... eBay?

CONGRATS!!!

Very nice. Enjoy, I drive mine daily & am still finding out what a great car the new GT 500's are. Power, handling, comfort. Great job Ford!

This is only the second one that I've seen in town, the first one was a loaded 2011 that I couldn't buy as my Z06 was taking up room in my garage.

And luckily when I saw the second one (this 2012), I had space that I needed to fill!

The dealership I bought it from in Calgary had a substantial amount of GT500's and two Boss 302's (one silver/red Laguna Seca) so I was able to compare most of the colour and stripe combinations and I found that the Kona/Red caught my eye the best.

The girlfriend wanted grabber blue but she was okay with this compromise as I was also looking at a red one with no stripes, haha.

This car is definitely going to be a full time daily driver in the summer. Driving my Silverado to work was starting to bore me.

I think this would be the color combo I'd go home with...just add in the Glass Roof and I'd sell my soul!

Whats with the break in period on these cars? My manual says 100 miles (160) km before extended WOT driving sessions and 1000 miles before performance/competition driving.

Nice! Enjoy the ride.

As for the break-in recommendations, check the manual and supplement. My memory says for the 1st 500 miles drive like a nanny, no WOT. Good luck with that!

What happened to the "drive it like you stole it" break in?

Yeah, the exact quote in my GT500 supplement says that for the first 100 miles (160 km) they do not recommend extended wide open throttle driving and no racing/competitive driving until 1000 miles (1600 km).

So I babied it for the first 160 km, then started burning the tires off, haha.

Yeah, I get ALOT of comments on the colour in parking lots and when out and about. I get far more attention in this car than I did in my Z06, haha.
