Mike (way2quick4u2c) and I were standing on the side of the dyno pull display waiting for the next show today and Alonso from Ford comes up and starts talking to us. After a couple minutes he asked us if we wanted to ride along, of course we said hell yeah!

 

congrats did it show the hp and tq results?

 

Were you guys commenting on the shifting there at the end? Sounded like he mentioned shifter break-in and said if you shift to hard it doesn't go in? I don't mean to stir up anything I'm just curious as to what Ford reps admit.

 

He missed 3rd gear and I said my buddy bust my ***** when I missed 3rd gear once that was until I got the Mgw. The shifter had a lot of play in it. Has nothing to do with the trans. It was more of a joke than complaining about shifting.

There was a computer but not where we could see. Only thing that sucked about it was it was a 2012. We thought at first going there it was a 13. Until we noticed the taillights and grill waiting for the demonstration. Mike asked Alonso why not a 13, he said they wanted to but when they were getting this all planned for the auto shows that they wanted to use the same car for each event and there wasn't a 13 ready yet.

 

Exactly what Mike said. He was showing us the play in the shifter due to the abuse from the show. The car had 2,000 miles on it all from dyno pulls. He did pull off missing 3rd pretty well though.

One thing I thought was cool, not sure if it was caught on video was he was explaining how 1st is good till 60mph before the rev limiter. I tried getting the speedo but it was hard from all the bouncing. He hit around 140mph each pull ending it with it hitting the rev limiter in 4th. I can't imagine having a car capable of 140 in 4th will still 2 more gears to go. The 2013 is going to be truly an amazing car.

 

pretty sad all the play in the shifter after 2k miles, dyno abuse or not.

 

That's a really cool experience!!! You guys should have held him hostage in the car until he gave you an idea of the 2013 GT500 pricing.
