Now 2008 GT500 similiarly spec'd was $41,930 + $745 + $1,300 GG = $43,975
Options of HID's at $525 +ambient lighting at $295 + premier interior trim at $595 + nav system at $1,995 = $47,385
Difference is $4,900 assuming no GG tax. Since no one except the dealers have seen the price sheet I am not going to say it isn't there. $5,900 seems to be a pretty average increase from the 2008 Mustangs to the 2011.
I just hope the delivery and waiting time is not as painful as it was for me last year. Hopefully they will have everything ironed out and there wont be hundreds of these cars sitting at the ford plant for months. Cant wait until the weather breaks and I can get mine back out on the road.
Everythings been great thanks! Been really busy, I just finished my garage the day of that huge snowstorm that dumped 2 feet of snow on us so shes resting fine now in my garage waiting for a nice warm day to come back out. Looking forward to getting to some car shows/events this year so if there are any you'll be attending or any good ones in the area let me know.

If you want the best Mustang, you'll get the GT500. If you don't want a Mustang, you'll get the Corvette. The price and what other people say about performance shouldn't matter a whole lot. Get what YOU want. There's a reason the Mustang costs more, it may just be that it's that much cooler to have and in higher demand than the Vette you're talking about.
I hate to be the voice of reason, but let's look at things. The arguments that the Mustang is going out of its price point are moot, since many other cars in its segment are moving up, and the cars below it are pushing up as well. Everything is shifting up, and now we've had to rush to fill the low end rung with subcompacts to fill in for an entry level car segment. This problem goes beyond just the Mustang.
You can compare a GT500 to a Corvette, but it's personal preference, and apples to oranges. I feel that a GT500 would be more useful (albiet, slightly) than a C6, but at that price point your personal taste and use kick in.
With that said, a 580 hp (my estimate) car that will handle better and look great is a lot of car for the money. GM advertised this for a while, but I see Ford as the ones doing it best right now.

i think the pricing looks pretty fair, hopefully in a couple years i will be cross shopping a black with silver Gt500, kona with silver gt500, and a red with white gt500..... so much competition in the market

The combined mileage that the government uses to determine whether a vehicle gets a GG Tax is not calculated the same way the the EPA calculates combined mileage for window sticker and advertising purposes. Can't directly compare the two methods.

I hope the stripes Don't look like the ones on the GT350...
After seeing the GT500 with the glass roof and perforated vinyl, I'm tossed on the glass.... Someone please tell me it ways more than the standard roof and is therefore bad for the C of G.... that'll help me!
