About $4K before options, actually, but you didn't hear that from me.

So the prices may change within the next month to show this. Hey Brian, any ideas on this?
I was asked about the GG Tax at the Team Shelby website. Legally, the GG Tax must be posted per federal law (perhaps to dissuade people from buying guzzlers in the first place?). Historically, Ford doesn't post pricing in the order banks (or publically) until EPA certification is done to know if a GG Tax will be needed. Therefor, I'm assuming that the '11 is efficient enough to finally meet the minimum combined fuel economy (roughly 22 mpg combined, which is not the same combined number on the window sticker, oddly enough).

I don't think the top of the line mustang should be priced as high as the vette.

The 03 cobra was much cheaper then the base vette and was much faster. Not so with the GT500 vs vette.
The MSRP also opens up the door to cars like M3, S4, Cayman, etc. Lots more sports car competition at the 50-55K price range.

downhill with a backwind. and, oh yeah, turn off the engine and coast. my supercharged '07 GT gets about 12-13 mpg combined (and just 23 on the highway at 60 mph on cruise control).

I certainly appreciate those cars, but I like Mustangs and wouldn't consider buying a German car. There's more to allegiance than just dollars.

I just hope the delivery and waiting time is not as painful as it was for me last year. Hopefully they will have everything ironed out and there wont be hundreds of these cars sitting at the ford plant for months. Cant wait until the weather breaks and I can get mine back out on the road.

The Corvette avoids it by weighing 3350 lbs for the heaviest model!

Wow, the Mustang continues is march out of the target markets price range. I realize the Shelby isn't for the typical buyer but it's getting pretty crazy. People just don't have the money for cars like this. Doesn't Ford notice there is HIGH unemployment nation wide with purchasing power and salaries decreasing?

You can talk about the 2011 GT350 being so much but that car is a joke. For fools who have more money then sense......AND REALLY BAD TASTE!

I am personally leaning towards a C6 Vette (2008+). I don't need the back seat right now and you can't touch it in terms of bang for the buck performance.

Ford has priced the GT500 too high in my opinion. Lots of great competition up at that altitude.

That's part of it of course, but so are the fact that 5th and 6th gears are both overdrive as I recall. The 2011 GT500 is also lighter than the 2010 GT500, so maybe weight is a part of it for the GT500 as well?

Don't forget aerodynamics too. The Corvette has a .28 coeffecient of drag. I believe the GT500's are .38.

Some people do, and unfortunately, I ain't one of 'em!

I suspect the product planners, marketing, and finance people fretted over this, but seemingly, enthusiasts are getting what they asked for in this car - lightened aluminum engine being among the chief of those. And the enthusiasts who buy this are willing to pay the price.

I keep looking at that car and wondering, with a few tweaks here and there (and MINUS the supercharger), if that would have been THE one to have. Not that I dislike the GT500, of course. A few less badges, a reworking of the lower part of the front fascia, maybe a bit more contrast on the lower rockers and rear fascia, like the 2010+s have from Ford...who knows?

Since you bought a 2010 GT500, I believe that some people might argue with you about the value of it, but clearly, you found it was worth it to you. At this point, we probably have more choices in Mustangs than in recent years ('99-'04 run), but all this proliferation of variations, and the costs for delivering them, I think we are seeing the financial impacts of this type of choice.

At any rate, the base MSRP is certainly "up there" from a purely relative standpoint. However, when you compare it to a 300-car run of 2000 Cobra Rs, I suppose it starts to make some more sense.

But it still LOOKS like a Vette. And as for the pricing in this economy, don't buy a GT500. It is not an everyman's car. The 2011 5.0 V8 will be more than enough for most buyers. If I can make it happen financially, the GT500 is my dream car. F**k Porsches and all the other imports.

GT500 is unique in it's segment. I need 4 seats and a bad ***, somewhat uncommon car. What else is there? I don't want a supersedan like a V or M5.

M3 coupe, which is a better daily driver than an GT500. It's a bit more expensive, but it's a lot nicer vehicle.

Not even comparable. Not taling performance, but I don't want a supersedan like a V or M car. The coupe is a sedan with 2 doors.

That can't be right, the 2010 V6 has a combined mileage of 21 MPG so it would have had a GG Tax. It has to be in reference to the highway mileage.
