2011 Shelby GT350 Styling Inspired By Original

2011 SHELBY GT350 STYLING INSPIRED BY ORIGINAL

The color combo, hood scoop and offset badge are unmistakably Shelby.

The 2011 edition utilizes functional side scoops to cool the rear brakes. Functional scoops weren't available on 1965 GT350s.

The 1965 Shelbys kept the standard fastback louvers. The 2011 GT350 uses quarter window covers.

The 2011 GT350 rear end adds separation to the three-element taillights.

A dash-mounted gauge pod housed an oil pressure gauge and tach on the original;
a fuel pressure, oil pressure gauge, boost gauge reside in the A-pillar of the '11.

Shelby squeezed 306 horsepower out of the 1965 289, but the '11 features a
5.0L V8 with a Ford Racing supercharger producing more than 500 horsepower.

The GT350 hood is amazing... but I prefer the front fascia of GT500.

Yep, I can see the resemblance to the original - white body with blue stripes. Hey, they got it right! Oh wait, the stripes are NOT painted?

PS: Thanx Brad for the side by sides! I 'get it' and really like it.

Who needs reverse lights
Mine on my 67 don't work.( I haven't hooked the sensor up)

I never thought about reverse lights while chopping it.

LOL Well I was thinking about the M/T article and thought the rev lights sort of carry thru with the center exhaust theme (even though that's not 350). As presented on Shelby's release the white on white doesn't work that well IMO. But might be OK with a background so they stand out like the 69 did.

Giant Borla polished stainless exhaust tips protrude from the center of the fascia, recalling the '69-'70 Shelby. Those backup light lenses? Straight off a '68-literally.

I'll search around and see if I can find any that might flow with the look better than those they had.

I agree with hi5.0, it's white with blue stripes and it started out as a Mustang.

That's it. I hope and I think Ford's own Boss will beat this car in looks and performance next year straight off the line. I don't know it for sure, but nothing out of SAI has been able to put rubber to the road lately anyway.
