2011 GT500 shifter question/issue

I have noticed there seems to be some play in the shifter when moving it side to side whether it's in gear or not. Maybe a half inch or so? Moves freely without any tension. Is this normal? Also, I have noticed a faint rattle that sounds like metal on metal when accelerating at a certain rpm range where I guess the resonance vibrates something in the shifter assembly. Anyone else experience any of these things? Or am I being too observant lol. Everything on the car is stock besides the intake resonator delete. And the sound in the shifter and all these issues where there prior to the install. I'll also state that there is no functionality problems, no grinding or anything like that.

I only have a 5.0, but I have that annoying rattle sound too at different rpms, more in the lower though. I thought it was from the shifter area too. I've determined its the e-brake button or the spring in it. Not really sure how to cure it. Might be same thing your experiencing.

That side to side is the soft bushings the factory uses along with a feeble shifter. I installed a MGW. ...as for the rattle, I haven't heard it in mine, but my engine is very loud. LOL

I haven't noticed but I'll check on it.

Heck, it is time I to find a flaw to complain about and take it to the dealer. I never expected the GT500 to be so boring.

Is there a bushings or something that could be replaced in the assembly to remove the slack? I thought I remembered reading something about a company making something like that but I don't remember the name.

The side to side play is in mine too, but no rattle.

Also, wanted to ask about the resonator delete. How much difference did it make in the s/c sound?

I would say about a 25% increase in sound.

I've rethought my answer. I'm going to say that the shifter has play because it's not directly connected to the trans. There is an arm that connects the shifter to the trans and this is most likely the cause of the play to the left and right.

I've also got the resonator delete on mine. Only got it so the strut tower brace would clear but I would say I've noticed little to no difference in s/c sound

I've got the Ford Racing strut tower brace & love it...looks so good under the hood but unfortunately I don't have any pics to share. Just a heads up, although it fits well & clears the engine it does rub up against the padding that's under the hood. I tried adjusting the hood bumpers higher but not sure if it cured it.
