'14 GT500 w/SVTPerfPkg + Recaro's as Daily Driver??

Ok, help me out, I'm on the fence and need input an guidance:

My preferred dealer has the perfect for me, 2014 GT500 Shelby coming in, White w/Blue Stripes, SVT Perf Pkg, SVT Track Pkg, Electronics Pkg, and Shaker Pro.

I drive 80-miles a day, average 24k miles per year, and would like this to be my daily driver. Does anyone have input on any hardships to the car, or their body, by using the GT500 with Recaro's as a daily driver?

I'm 6'1" at 260, so I'm concerned about the lower seat bolsters becoming uncomfortable during the hour long commute twice a day.

Also, is the clutch in the 2013/14 GT500 significantly stiffer than a standard GT clutch pedal?

Thanks for your help.

I don't have the Recaros, but I can tell you the clutch pedal is like butter.

I'm almost the exact build as you and I did a 120 mile trip with a 10 minute turn around and back again. The Recaors were pleasant the entire 120 miles and I finally noticed some fatigue in my back on the last 30 miles or so of the return trip.

Since then I've taken a few 120 mile trips without the immediate turnaround and I've never had any discomfort at all.

I find the side bolster give my wider back support like it just fits in their. Now there's no extra room like you're on a couch or anything but its extremely supportive.

As far as the clutch it's butter. I love it. I think it's perfect for the car. Coming from the clutch in the 07 GT I find it to be much improved and life the feel. My Cobra R has much more of a race clutch that has a high release point it seems and just grabs the 13 GT500 is a good balance between comfortable and race.

I'm a truck guy and have driven all kinds of clutches and shifters so when I say I enjoy taking a long trip in the GT500 others might scoff at that. It's no grand tourer but I love it and appreciate it because I'm used to less comfortable cars and trucks. Like a 1993 Fox coupe or a 2007 GT or a no AC no radio 2000 R.

But just like anything it might be different for you.

That's why the whole Clarkson Top Gear thing annoys me. Maybe to a M3 or whatever he orgasms over it isn't a perfect car. It's a .50 caliber bullet that I can drive comfortable for two hours. It's the best that I'm used to. It's not a scalpel or a samurai sword it's a ****ing Louisville slugger. It's America *****es!

So bow to your Queen and kiss my ***!

It's so good, a test drive isn't needed before purchase. Lol

Well the wife is on-board with me getting one, so now it just waiting to see what the insurance company says, hopefully the rate won't go up much, and hopefully can work out a good deal on my 2012 GT trade-in. Already confirmed X-Plan is out of the question, but there is no markup.

Depends on age and location I reckon. My insurance was not that much for such a $$$$ car.

Though the agent warned me that because my insurance company is a mutual company they may not renew me when the time comes because of the cost of the car. Which is up to them I guess.

I'm thinking of going to Heacock or one of those classic insurers but the mileage and use limitation may be too restrictive.

Well I'm 41 now, and the wife and me pay $135 per month now for her 2012 Flex and my 2012 GT, or about $80-month for the Mustang portion, so as long as the jump isn't huge, it probably really isn't an obstacle, just a concern.

I think it's around $1200 a year for this car in addition to the other cars. I'm 41 also and the wife is too and we have spotless records.

I'm not the same size you are, but I've taken a few 60+ minute trips in mine and the seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in for long trips. Like 2k7gtcs, that's coming from a person who's owned multiple Jeeps and trucks so I'm used to harder/rougher rides and less comfortable seats, but it says something that a car that's outfitted just like yours is (save the electronics package) can feel that comfortable. The only benefit to the standard seats is the heating; if you don't have to have heated seats then the Recaros are absolutely worth the money. Besides, considering the percentage of the price that they make up, it's really not that much of an expense. If you've got the money to buy the car itself, the Recaros won't be a financial concern. Re: insurance, it shouldn't go up too much if you have a clean driving record.

Tire wear is likely to be your biggest consideration, given the type the SVT package comes with on that model.

The Recaros are great. Even better on a long drive, in my opinion. Longest trip in mine was the straight drive from the mid-west to Utah for track attack- 26 hours, I think? Its been a year ago or so. Hard to remember exactly.

I have some back issues, and the Recaros are nice and supportive, and feel very good. Honestly, I feel better in those seats than I do in what I have to sit in at work. I try to sit like they trained us at track-attack. Upright with arms at a 90 degree angle, which was a lot closer than I was used to, but love it now. Snug in with the belt. I have to say my posture and back like it.

I DD mine. Not quite as far as you each day, unfortunately.

I'm 5'11'', around 200lbs.

Trust me, you will like them.

I don't think that there is any difference between the ones in the 500 and the B2 car. They are a bit more relaxed than the ones in my wife's Focus ST.
