2011 does it still have a rusty axle?

Just curious for you guys with the inside scoop in Detroit. I've seen a lot of pics, but nothing of the axle. Is it still rusty? If I recall, last year they painted the rear for the demo cars only. I'm guessing they probably painted the 2011's too? If any of you guys are there and get a chance grab one of the Ford Reps to find out if they changed the rear, and also pass along that it was BS they painted the axles on last years display then released something different...

id actually like to know why the axles are rusty, or have a rusty look to them. i'd guess is that their leftover axles that need to be used...

Well the 2011 show cars were painted again. However, we know that means nothing.

All brand new mustangs have rusty axles. They are not used. Ford does not paint them...I'm guessing due to cost.

My 2006 axle still doesn't have rust.

If it really bothers you, get under there with a wire brush and your favorite paint and get to it.

I plan on doing the same someday.

The rust, other than looking bad, really doesn't do much. It rusts to a certain point and stops, or so they say.

I thought about doing that for about a minute before I decided my to-do list is too long already. I just decided it can stay, and I will gripe about it, but do nothing to fix it.

Hahaha. Your honesty... well, it's refreshing, to say the least.

I went to the local Ford Dealership here in Brandon Florida an d most of the Mustangs had rusty axles! I cant stand that, and I know that it's surface rust but still. What a turnoff. I wouldnt take it from the dealership like that. They'd have to paint it themselves or remove the rust and and make it look nice before I'd take it home- especially a brand new car!

Im buying a 2011 5.0 and dont want one with rusty axles off the bat! I want mine right off the production line- and if I absolutely dont have it like that, then I'm going to do it myself like the other member on this thread with the GT 500

Well my "old" 2001 Bullitt doesn't have a rusty rear either. This is what I did.....
When I got the car home from the dealer,I jacked it up,and sprayed it all down with 3M Four in One oil. It dries to a film, and prevents moisture from causing rust on the metal parts.
Every year I go over it,and now 9 years later it still looks OEM new. I guess, when the car was built, the rear assembly didn't sit around long, befor it was installed, plus the car was shipped right after build.
The center section appeared to have a light coat of black paint, but the axle tubes and control arms were all bare metal.

**** rusty axles... I guess time to buy a wire brush and some tremclad rust paint. Should I cover the entire bottom before spraying or shall i brush it on instead? I am leaning towards brushing it on...
