If you're gonna do a "re-imagination" (gosh that's a popular word these days, isn't it?) of this show, then update it with a more logical concept, which, IMHO, would be a car that is a...

...one off. A unique vehicle that isn't "adapted" from some existing model so that big corporations can get a product placement/marketing/kickback deal.

Does anybody think for one second that if some corporation with geniuses on the payroll had the ability and money to build a car like KITT, that they would pluck some SE Mustang - or ANY consumer vehicle - off the showroom floor and convert it into a talking, super-computerized-transmorpogenic-robo-autobot with a Cylon eye scanning back and forth?

Of course not. They would start with a blank sheet of paper and build the thing themselves from the ground up.

I wonder if the f*cking thing will transform, too? What the hell, might as well.

This series will be another still-born NBC retread, like Bionic Woman.

 

This is way cool. Sure it was a cheesy show back then, and probably will be now. But I LOVE Kitt!!! Inspired my whole generation to run around with a fake steering wheel humming the theme song

You think about it though, what other car are they gonna use if you're going American?

TV show is probably going to trash several a year doing stunts, so they need a "common" car that has parts readily available. Plus I'm sure buying "low cost " version with body kits (V6) for certain shots rather than trashing a real KR.

Can't do Corvette...that'd be too expensive.
GTO is no longer on the plate.
No Camaro.
No Firebird.
What's left? Unless you pic a foreign car. Some how, I think there'd me more anger if KITT was Tiberon or something.

 

KITT car should be a kit car.

Frankly not that expensive to build a few custom one-offs. It's been done on several shows, including Hardcastle and McCormick.

 

What about a Charger or even an Avenger. They're bland enough to be cheap but sporty enough to be modified into something that looks racy.

Maybe the new G8 family. Rear Wheel drive, Hi output V8's well within the Mustang price range. That could work too.

 

good idea....that red cyclops thingy would fit in the srt8 charger hood easily.

 

With 20/20 hindsight, I realize the super pursuit mode KITT would be what's called rice today! Wonder how many people will try to replicate this show's incarnation of KITT with their own Mustang...

Ah well, nevermind the car, who is going to be the hottie mechanic this time around?

 

OMG.........WTF! thats all i have to say....................... i like more mustangs in movies and all. but come on a remake of Knight Rider?

 

K.I.T.T needs to be a Trans-Am or a Camaro....not a mustang.

I just hope Hasslehoff isn't involved in any way because I can't think of a better way to make a Mustang "Uncool" than to put Hasslehoff behind the wheel. He's a drunk and he'd pit out the inside with his drunken cheeseburger residue. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.....if not check out youtube. Hasslehoff is a dork!
