GT500KR is new K.I.T.T.
Edit By Scothew: Official Pics and Ford Press Release on pg 3!
Thats right Ford is finally stealing one away from GM. The role of KITT in the upcoming Knight Rider TV series will be played by a black GT500KR.
Im a little bummed cuz I think that my car looks a little more KITT-like...oh well.

ps. saw a quote from someone on another forum...
Quote:
"Don't you get it? They picked the Mustang because it fit in the alpha-numeric naming system.
GT500KR = GT500KingoftheRoad = GT500KnightRider
If the show was called "Knight Xavier" or "Knight Xenophobe" the would have likely gone with the Acura MKX."
very interesting!

Actually it was an 82 Trans Am or TA which is two letters but I think that's where the similarity ends.
As for the new Knight rider yeah well that light bar looks stupid on the front end like something a ricer fan would do.
The original show was really campy but helped Firebird sales in the 80's, Chevy turned them down which was dumb considering the front end of 82 Camaros had those slits cut in the front which would have looked more natural with the "Ceylon eye" thing.
Then there was that Knight Rider 2001 thing which was just stupid. There was another series called Knight Rider made in Canada which had nothing to do with the original series and everyone was running around in "High Tech" Dodge trucks and Daytona Shelby's. It was one of those syndicated shows made to pad Brad Pitt wannabe resumes and sell hair spray.
Anyway I think the evil GT cop car in the Transformers movie probably did more than this upcoming series will.

Hmm I dunno, it's gonna be hard not to cringe the first time KITT goes to "Turbo Boost" and jumps 40 feet in the air...ooooh that's gonna leave a mark.
Wonder if they are going to put in that totally crazy digital dash with monitors and all. And of course they'll need the hot chick playing the mechanic/assistant :-).

Going to be interesting, that is for sure. Just hate to see a beautiful car like this take a beating or get damaged. But it will be interesting to see what Additional things they add to the car that will become Aftermarket add on's.
Ohhh, and I doubt Ford gave them Just one, so there are probably 10 or so of these that will be used, more if some start getting damaged.
They did photoshop the red lights in the nose, so we will see.

KITT STRIPER! Too funny, I guess this was on America Has Talent, a striper dancing with the original KITT as the Hoff watches.
Very minor WW, it was shown on Primetime TV.

Oh nooo! So I guess the side scoops will pop out, the chin spoiler will slide out further and the rear wing will raise up, then jet exhausts will extend out of the rear bumper - I hope they put hood pins on that bad boy, when it passes through 300 mph it might fly off! Of course it wouldn't be hurt because of the "Molecular Bondage Shell".
