YaoNYC: do you have the GT500 front fascia?
i'd go with the Trufiber hood.. but it won't look as good with a GT500 front fascia (neither would a KR hood on a stock GT!)

the BS and potential high cost of this KR stopped the whole process. i went with CS fascia and trufiber hood.

I have the GT500 front on my car so it looks like I’ll be going with The Race Car Factory hood its a lot closer to the KR hood and is available now at much, much lower price.
I like the SS hood but I can think of a number of other mods I can do with the left over money.

Rob: i honestly doubt that hood would work well with the GT500 fascia..
it's made to fit the GT fascia, and has a flat "lip" compared to the raised one on the GT500..
a hood like that with much more pronounced features may look quite odd if it doesn't line up right with the front bumper :\

The Race Car Factory hood that he's talking about is made for the GT500 front fascia, Louie are you confusing it with the Dream Car Factory hood?

Have anyone contact Trufiber to see if they are willing to make this hood?
They already made the KR hood for the GT. All they gotta to is change the lip to make if fit the gt500 fascia....I dont see why they wouldnt do it if enough people show interest.
Just a though

Sorry but the race car factory hoods look not at all like the kr. The scoop is much too far back, the center strut of the nostrils is far to wide and the rear heat extractors are rearward facing rather than louver inserts.
Can't someone just make one that really looks like the KR? whats the big deal. Each vendor tries to 'make it better' and ends up mucking it up. Someone needs to do it right already and the company that does is going to sell a bunch of them. Why is this so difficult?

As long as it is functional trademark issues can be skirted around, I went through something similar with Ferrari when I was manufacturing Testarossa replicas.
They claimed that the side scoops and strakes was their trademark and when the court asked what their purpose was their reply was to direct air into the engine compartment for cooling we were asked the same and our response was the same as theirs, its use was functional so it could not be used as their trademark so it was thrown out.
Design copyright is another issue and a huge gray area and usually ends up being on the side of the one with the most money and best attorneys. If it were a direct splash or copy there could be definite law suits but if it is changed a certain percentage then it usually falls back to the one with the most money and best attorneys.

Well, I thought I'd check in here to see if we had made any progress with the hood issue. I can see that we haven't. Good going Shelby!!!!!! I can appreciate all Shelby has done for the Mustang, but I feel that SAI has really messed up on this one. I'm no moneybags here, but I can afford to purchase their products. After this little episode I will not purchase anything else theat they produce. I'm pretty disgusted at this point. I know SAI could care less about the pocket change I've spent with them, but it makes me feel better to spend my money elsewhere.
BTW, If and when someone does manufacture a KR/SS type hood, lets try to start a new thread about that hood in "appearance mods." I think we have all said our piece here and this thread truely does appear to be dead!

it's funny how Amy is completely ignoring this thread
i'm pretty over it really.. having run after them practically begging over the phone and email and even here for maybe 2 months.. they gave me this crap.
to hell with it.. anyway this thing would have cost me 1000 dollars to ship to Dubai

I have said all along I am trying to give you real info, before I post.
The hoods will be in full production this month and be available by end of month, they will also be cheaper then the catalog price. I know you are excited about it, I am rushing, I want it right.
