Shelby and Roush come together

Shelby and Roush come together
For the first time ever, Carroll Shelby and Jack Roush met with Ford Motor Company in order to design and produce a new car based on the 2011 Mustang and inspired by the SR-71 “Blackbird,” the long-range reconnaissance USAF aircraft built by Lockheed Martin.
The SR-71 Mustang (S for Shelby, R for Roush) is currently being built at the Roush plant in Livonia, Michigan, with the participation and input of all parties involved. The new vehicle will carry the impressive 5.0-lite Ti-VCT V8 engine with a 2.3-liter Whipple Twin Screw Supercharger with Ford Racing calibration and Roush intake, a Ford Racing Handling Pack and tuned exhaust and tips, SVT Track Pack wheels in custom paint (19-inch in front, 20-inch in rear) and a new glass roof with unique graphic treatment. Also, the car will carry a non-production matte and silver exterior paint treatment with SR-71 cues as well as custom Recaro race seats featuring signatures of Jack Roush and Carroll Shelby. Further improvements for the interior include a new racing steering wheel, removed rear seat, Ford Racing performance gauge cluster, a modified navigation screen, roll cage custom badging, sill plates and floor mats.

The Matte "stealth" looks ok but I'm not sure about the pinkish/redish stripes and the pinkish/redish ring around the fog lights
2.3L twin screw supercharger should be pretty sick though
Also sorry for posting in this section again but I really can't find a better place for this, please direct me in the right direction

That's interesting because ROUSH is still undecided on the 2011 version of their Stage 3 mustang. If you notice currently they don't offer a stage 3. My guess is since the new 5.0 is already a high compression motor there isn't to much headroom for a big liter blower. At best maybe it will push 5 -6 PSI possibly . The new 5.0 is a great engine design but I rather build off of an aluminum 5.4 if I could have a choice.

I was kind of wondering the same thing while going through the article LOL!

I 'spose auctions count as car shows, so I guess this is in the right place
A few more details on this thread:

It's only a one-off, so I'm not going to get too excited, although there's a good chance we're looking at the front facia/wheels etc from the upcoming Boss

Can someone just make a no nonsense Muscle Mustang not inspired by some "theme", or just FRP bolt ons that anyone could do. How about a Mustang with a real 427 CID displacement from the factory? What a concept, we need more and better build to order cars straight from FORD.

Haha that's a great observation, I guess we both know when you slap the Shelby name on something you can sell for a lot more.

Holy cow. With Shelby, Roush, Saleen, Racecraft and Steeda all pumping out one special edition after the other- nothings really special anymore.
I still say that Ford should have sold street legal FR500 cars with a decent track suspension. We could of had a new Cobra R model, with a different name.
Thanks for the update. I like the flat black paint, but that's about it.
