Queen Mary 13, 09/20/09, Long Beach CA, U.S.A.
Some pictures for this years Queen Mary 367 Mustangs parked. Great show as always and we got out on time. Proceeds went to a good cause. Quote from...

QM13 started out on a somber note. 10 minutes before the AM Driver/Vendor Meeting, I had decided to dedicate the show in the memory of little Kaylee Alvarez. You might have heard her story. Kaylee was murdered by a drunken driver (and father of four) on 9.11.09 in Long Beach - Not far from our show site. I do not know if it was because I am a new(er) father, or just extra tired from all the show prep - but reading the story profoundly affected me. It got to the point where I couldn't even focus on the show. There was a well written story at LBPost.com - but then I made the mistake of clicking on their link to the rather graphic account in the Press Telegram, and it was all over... (links can be found on the QM13 follow up page).
I live & play in Long Beach, and had a large event coming up in that city as well. Could I use the Mustang car show to somehow make a difference? I spoke with my good friend and show sponsor Joe Gosinski of Chicane Sport Tuning about it, and he took the ball and ran with it. He made contact with the family and we both came up with a way to raise funds at the show. Joe set up a Hot Wheels racing contest and we encouraged participants and vendors to play for donations. After we raised $1000, new Saleen Owner/CEO Mike Shields kicked in $500. We asked our vendors to "come play Hot Wheels for $50", but this was totally unexpected, and shows that, in more ways than one, Saleen Performance Vehicles is heading in the right direction.
We are currently at $1675.00. The main reason we are sending this "Show Update" to our whole 2500+ email list is that we hope YOU might also contribute. Our goal is $3000+. While there is another fund in place for local residents to contribute, we are doing our fund for 3 reasons: 1) to show that the Mustang Hobby has a heart; 2) to make it simple for our hobby to contribute and 3) no matter what it takes, this family should not be out of pocket one cent for the stupidity of that drunken driver. They have a 2 year old son that was injured in the accident, as well.
Enjoy the pictures!

As, ever, superb photos Jed
As for the little girl.....I'm sure she's up in heaven thanking those generous enough to help out her family. I have no time for drunk drivers
