the shelby gt500 vert was there, they say that it will be available in summer and it will have 485hp stock, as well as all of the other stuff we already know about, mcphearson suspension, 6speed, and all that other stuff, this is also not set in stone what it will look like, they also would not open the hood, and I couldnt see an intercooler for the SC, I think it was a stock GT motor and thats why. here is a small sample for now enjoy.....

Thanks for the pics.....the shelby doesn't impress me, i do not care for the front grill (incl. the cobra badge), rear spoiler looks junky, rims do not impress me----now if this car is in the mid 40's to boot, they can keep it, i'll take my 05' vert, slap anSC on it for about 4-5 K and be faster, for 9-12K less---
---what do you guys think?

Well it also has a beefed up suspension, bigger tires, and much better brakes as well. All that and a warranty, that matters to some. So you have to factor that into the equation as well, unless you are just talking straight line performance and nothing else.
Just playing devils advocate.

Please don't think 'sour grapes' here. I'll be right up front that I can't afford the GT500. But let me say this about that... If I did not know what was under the hood of a stock GT and the Shelby, I'd pick the stock GT on pure looks alone. The Shelby just does nothing for me. I like the 475 horses, but like the others are saying... you can add a SC to the 4.6.
Well you cant compare a modded GT to a modded Cobra. A forged internal 5.4 if its simmilar to the 03/04 motor is good to be modded quite easilly beyond the 900hp mark. Its the same thing that makes gt based saleens obsolete when the SVT products are $15k less just waiting to be violated with more boost with a motor specifically designed to be forced induction from the factory.
I thought I was the only one who didn't like the looks of the new Shelby. Glad I'm not alone. Obviously I'd love to have the drivetrain, but there's not one thing on there that looks better than the GT IMO... especially that spoiler.
Fang did a much better job of creating a Shelby looking Mustang than Ford did. Now if they'd just get a descent looking logo.
:notnice: :notnice: Ford.
Edit: I do like the Corvette wheels... on a Corvette.

Any idea who made the solid one piece tail light bezel on the pink Mustang? First one I've seen.

That's great! I love how the picture of the two girls have been viewed MANY more times than ANY of the car pictures.

As others have said, just adding a S/C to a 4.6 is not the same thing. The GT-500 is a completely engineered upgrade not just a clapped together bolt on.
With that said, the mirrors should have been painted body color along with the rocker panel trim and rear air extractor.
In addition, there is something missing from the GT-500. There should have been something else added like side scoops.
After seeing the GT500 in person, I think it does look a little better than the pictures. But, I am still dissapointed. I like the front bumper, but wish the hood was straight across and not so catfish-like -- let alone those aweful extractors. It also looks like it is three feet in the air with the high ride height and black rockers (maybe that is why the went with the small wheels to minimize this effect). The interior is also a let down. The black IUP looks just like stock and creates a feeling of a big, black expanse of nothingness. Plus, there was nothing over the GT besides the two-toned seats.
Overall, besides the 475hp, it looks like a $20k car. And considering I would use that power maybe 2% of the time, I would much rather have a great looking, well appointed car for my $40k -- even if it had 150 less hp. But that is just me.
