Ford to Auction Grabber Blue Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca for Charity at Barrett-Jackson 2011 January 5, 2011 It's the 40th anniversary of the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auto auction and Ford feels like celebrating. How? With a one-of-a-kind Grabber Blue 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca to be auctioned for charity. "Like the legendary Parnelli Jones, the Boss Mustang we will be auctioning is truly one-of-a-kind. It is the only 2012 Grabber Blue Boss 302 Laguna Seca we will ever build," said Ford President of the Americas, Mark Fields. "The winning bidder on this car will not only become part of Mustang history but also will be a pioneer in the next chapter of the Boss legacy. At the same time, he or she will be contributing to a worthy cause, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation." Ford will also spiff the car up a bit with special black accents on the roof, mirrors, spoiler, wheels and the C-stripe. The car also gets a grille surround, X-brace behind the seats and embroidery on the head rests all finished in Grabber Blue. Mechanically, it's the same 444-horsepower 5.0-liter monster you know and love. Parnelli Jones himself, the man who piloted a Boss 302 at the 1970 Trans-Am season opener at Laguna Seca and inspired the name of the limited-production racecar, will be on-hand to provide commentary during the bidding. If you ask real nice, he might even sign the car for you after you win the auction. Ford isn't exactly giving the car away, though. The company says it will donate all proceeds over MSRP to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, a leading researcher in the cure for Type 1 diabetes. This information would be far more useful if Ford had announced the MSRP for the Boss 302 or the Laguna Seca model, but all we know for now is that they'll fall between $40,000 and $50,000. We'll find out the real price soon enough, as the auction takes place at the end of this month. If you're a Ford fan with a soft spot for sick kids, dig deep. Even if you can't afford to bid yourself, you can still watch the auction live on Speed Channel on January 22, 2011. Source: Ford
