Where's my oil going?

So last week I checked my oil and was down almost a liter. I topped it up and now after about 700 miles I am down about 1/4 liter. I see no smoke while driving yet had a bit of a surprise this morning. Started my car long enough to back it out of the garage and wash it. No smoke. Then when I started it about 45 minutes later there was a cloud of smoke. This leads me to think valve seals. I am going to do a compression taste later today.

If it's the seals what's the easiest fix? Replace just the seals or is now the time to think about upgrading the heads? I want to try and go as cheap as possible but not cheap out if you know what I mean. Reason being is I already have to replace my tranny and rear end as well as what I just spent on a procharger.

Thanks!

There is just under 57000 miles on it. Going to do a compression test now.

Here are the compression test results.

Front of car
5 - 198........1 - 199
6 - 192........2 - 200
7 - 198........3 - 195
8 - 190........4 - 190

Numbers seem decent.
