So that means at some level, Ford has been aware of the problem for awhile and only now may issue a TSB for it? Trying to save too many pennies with the seam fillers, huh? Given the price of copper nowadays, maybe it can be forgiven.

The leaky brake fluid cap is still present on the latest 2007s. I'm sure Ford has been aware of this problem since the 2005 MY.

Sure hope the TSB is issues before my 07 GT comes in, I never had an issue with my 06 V6 and I drove in the rain all the time and before we moved it sat out side all the time. You know Ford needs to fix this as it's stuff like this that will continue to hurt their sales.

I think everyone who has had this problem should report this to the NHTSA even if it has been fixed to their satisfaction. If Ford find's themselves with the possibility of recalling 200,000+ cars they will do everything in their power to fix the problem.

Leak

Virgil - saw your post on the leak issue.

How would an owner report the leak problem to the NHTSA? Do you know out to do it?

I think the process should be outlined on all of these forums. I don't have the problem; but Ford is clearly stroking all these people with their lack of response [denial].

Thanks. Walt.

Here is the link to th NHTSA web site:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

You can either file a complaint on line or phone in. If you have had any kind of issue with this water leak shutting off your lights or just playing havoc with the electrical system I would call the NHTSA to file a complaint as it could be a safety defect. The more people that call or file a complaint the better.

I did this for my Volvo C70 and an issue with the Throttle body and within 6 months Volvo had a recall and Ford/Volvo refunded my $900 repair. It works as long as enough people write. However it MUST be a safety issue in some way so think on that before you write.

Are your windows functioning OK ? as my son noticed today that his or passenger side will no longer do the drop down & if all the way up & try to close the door it could bust it out ? so it would end up left open a tad that if it rained it would get in ! So he whipped out the book and recallibrated it for me & works like a charm btw Nat's a 10 yr old

Would a failure of the lights be considered a safety defect I guess is the question? Only way to find out would be to call or file the report.

Let's say that the water leak shorted out all of the lights in the car I would most definitely report that to the NHTSA.

Definitely a safety issue.

Imagine you were on a dark road and your lights suddenly failed while making a sharp turn. Yikes!

I don't have to imagine been there on a grid road 80 mph at night
as well approx 100 mph rock hits window and it disintergrated right then at that speed.

Well, it's been two months and still no TSB, the other site thats listed here clearly states that the TSB is still coming. I hope all of you with this problem are doing well, and I hope this gets fixed soon. Still it would not be hard to read the other forum and tell your service department where the problem was and how it was fixed.

My best guess is that the white foam sheet is there to prevent rattles from the smart junction box cover rubbing against the plastic inner covers and retaining tabs underneath.

Yeah I've got the same problem too. Going to take it to the dealer this week.

In the meantime, I avoid driving in the rain or parking it in the rain. I also avoid puddles for fear that it will stall out the Stang like a POS AMC (been there, done that lol).

My windows started going up and down by themselves this morning in the first rain we've seen in MD in months. Sure enough, the passenger kickplate was soaking wet. Going in next week for a fix.

I found this TSB online. Hope it helps someone else!
