I just got a new 08 Mustang GT a few days ago...

I'm not sure what to expect, and don't remember much from test drives of 07's months ago. When in gear, the shifter vibrates. Is this normal?

It's not ridiculous vibration, but it's enough that I don't want to rest my hand on the shifter... and if I do, my hand goes slightly numb from the vibration.

This is my first manual car, so I don't know what to expect. Is everything OK? Could I have broken something in my first day of noobish driving?

 

My 05 has done that since day one. Hopefully in the next Mustang Ford will be a little more R&D into the shifter.

 

mine does not vibrate..... nor have i heard of this problem other than you two guys.

The vibrations you are feeling may be normal. All engines vibrate and the shifter is part of the drive train.

Edit: If your shifter is shaking wildly doing normal driving, you may have a problem.

 

There's some harmonics with mine but at certain RPMs. I rest my hand on mine all the time and hardly notice it though.

Yeah, turns out it's normal. I drove my friend's Integra over the weekend and it vibrates almost as much. Interesting fact: Our shifters are ALOT easier to shift than the Integra.. (I wasn't expecting this, since an RSX-S I test drove shifted so smooth it was like a computer game)

 

Same here but nothing I would call unexpected
